LAKEVILLE,
IN -- With the NASCAR Featherlite Modified Series canceling their
season opening race at Thompson (CT) due to inclement weather, that
left just two of the five NASCAR divisions that Hoosier exclusively
provides tires for in action over the weekend. When the last checkered
flag dropped, Jeff Seifert was a first-time winner, while Steve
Carlson (photo) added one more win to his ever-growing resume.
NASCAR SOUTHWEST SERIES
EL CAJUN, CA (April 3)-- On Saturday in the NASCAR Southwest Series,
Jeff Seifert became the series' fourth different winner in as many
races capturing the 125-lap "COORS Light 125" at
California's Cajun Speedway. The win was Seifert's first-ever in the
series and was worth $2,500 to the Jamul, CA driver. Seifert was
followed to the line by Joe Herold, David Gilliland, previous race
winner Craig Raudman and Danny Burson. The series is back in action on
May 8, at California's Stockton 99 Speedway.
NASCAR MIDWEST SERIES
ROCKFORD, IL (April 4) -- On Sunday, the NASCAR Midwest Series kicked
off their 2004 season at Rockford Speedway. When it was all over,
Steve Carlson was the winner of the "Spring Classic 250"
after starting fifth in the field. Carlson collected $4,890 for the
win. Tim Schendel, Brian Hoppe, Josh Vadnais and David Finney rounded
out the top five. The series resumes competition May 31, at Wisconsin
International Speedway.
Both series used Hoosier's 2220 (L) and 2240 (R) tires
as their left and right side tires for this weekend's races. Terry
Newton is the Hoosier Product Manager for four of the five NASCAR
divisions Hoosier exclusively provides tires. The NASCAR Featherlite
Modified Series is managed by Irish Saunders. The season opener in the
NASCAR Featherlite Modified Series at Thompson International Speedway
was rescheduled for April 18th.
