LAKEVILLE,
IN -- It was a busy weekend in NASCAR regional racing with three of
the five divisions employing a Hoosier tire-rule in action. In the NASCAR Northwest Series, Jason Jefferson won
Saturday's
season-opening race at Washington's Tri-City Raceway. Jefferson
moved into the lead on lap 19, and led the remainder of the 125-lap
distance in the Speck Chevrolet-Hyundai 125. Jefferson earned $2,550
for the win. Also on Saturday, 21-year-old Jason Hogan captured his first career win in the
NASCAR Southeast Series at Hickory Motor Speedway in North Carolina.
Hogan came from fifth place to capture the win earning $4,266 for his
efforts. On Sunday, the NASCAR Featherlite Modified Series took to the
track at Connecticut's Stafford Motor Speedway for their second event
of the season. When it was all over, Jerry Marquis (photo) was the
winner collecting $8,000 as 52 cars attempted to gain entry to the
elite 33-car starting field.
NASCAR NORTHWEST SERIES
WEST RICHLAND, WA (April 24) -- Twenty-five cars started Saturday's
Speck Chevrolet-Hyundai 125, at Tri-City Raceway's 1/2-mile track. When
it was all over, Jason Jefferson had captured the NASCAR Northwest
Series season opener leading all but the first 18 laps of the 125-lap
event.
The Yakima, Washington driver earned $2,550 for the
win. Jefferson, who finished runner-up in the standings last season to
his brother Jeff, was followed to the line by rookie Travis Bennett.
Bennett was followed by Brandon Riehl, Garrett Evans and Wes Rhodes to
round out the list of top five finishers. Joe Benedetti won the POWERade Move
of the Race finishing in sixth place after starting 24th as 11 of the
25 race starters finished the event on the lead lap.
All of Saturday's competitors used Hoosier's 2220 left
side and 2240 right side tires.
The NASCAR Northwest Series takes a week off before
returning to action on May 8, at Evergreen Speedway in Monroe,
Washington.

HICKORY,
NC (April 24) -- Twenty-three cars made up the starting grid for
Saturday's NASCAR Southeast Series race at famous Hickory Motor
Speedway. When all 150 laps were in the books, Jason Hogan was the
winner collecting $4,266 for his efforts. It was the 21-year-old
driver's first career victory in the challenging series.
Finishing in second place was Erik Darnell followed by
J.R. Norris, Kevin Prince and Michael Faulk. Chris Davidson, A.J.
Frank, John Wilkinson III and Greg Pope finished sixth through
ninth, respectively, rounding out the list of lead-lap
finishers.
Jason Hogan takes over the lead in the driver
standings with 350 points. (Hogan finished second in the season-opener
at Nashville.) Erik Darnell is in second with 325 points followed by
A.J. Frank, J.R. Norris and Jeff Fultz.

The race was also ran using Hoosier's versatile 2220
left side and 2240 right side tires. Terry Newton is the Hoosier
Product Manager in charge of the 2220 and 2240 tire lines.

STAFFORD SPRINGS, CT (April 25) -- Fifty-two cars
jammed the pits attempting to make the 33-car field for Sunday's
NASCAR Featherlite Modified Series Spring Sizzler at Stafford Motor
Speedway. Amazingly, Jerry Marquis took the win after gaining entry
into the field via a provisional starting spot and starting back in
the 29th position. He also collected $8,000 for the victory.
Tony Hirschman took second place followed by Eddie
Flemke in third. Last year's points champion Todd Szegedy and Tom
Bolles rounded out the top five as 11 of the 33 starters finished the race on the lead lap.

Modified Series points lead with 335 points followed by previous race
winner Teddy Christopher with 330 points. (Christopher finished sixth
in Sunday's race.) Tony Hirschman, Tom Bolles and Zach Sylvester round
out the top five in the rankings.
The next event on the NASCAR Featherlite Modified
Series schedule is May 15, at
Waterford Speedbowl in Connecticut. Hoosier Tire East will again
