IN -- With rain postponing Saturday's Coca-Cola 150, in the
NASCAR Featherlite Modified Series, that left two other NASCAR Touring
Divisions that Hoosier supplies tires in competition. In the
International Truck & Engine Corporation Midwest Series, Brian
Hoppe (right) led 175 of the 250 race laps en route to winning the AC Delco
250, at Minnesota's Elko Speedway on Saturday. Also on Saturday in the
NASCAR Featherlite Southwest Series, Winston Cup regular Kevin Harvick
won the Snap-On Tools/Jelly Belly 200, at Infineon Raceway.

MIDWEST SERIES
ELKO, MN (June 21) -- Twenty-five cars took the green flag Saturday
evening on the 3/8-mile Elko Speedway. Eric Fransen won the Bud Pole
Award for the fastest lap in qualifying. Fransen circled the track in
a scant 13.793 seconds (97.876 mph). But the redraw had Fransen
starting sixth, while Josh Vadnais and previous race winner Eddie
Hoffman drew front row starting spots.
Eddie Hoffman took the early race lead from his
outside pole starting position with Josh Vadnais in tow. Hoffman's
lead lasted until lap 67, when Vadnais moved into the lead. Vadnais
led the next nine circuits before giving way to fifth starting Brian
Hoppe on lap 76. Hoppe led the remainder of the race winning by .520
seconds over seventh starting Ron Breese, Jr. Hoppe pocketed $4,750
for his first win of the season in the series, while Breese made
$3,550 for his runner-up finish. Eddie Hoffman rounded out the list of
top three finishers.
Steve Carlson, Jon Lemke, Tim Schendel and Eric
Fransen finished fourth through seventh, respectively, and completed
the list of lead-lap finishers.
In the series standings, Ron Breese, Jr. leads the
points chase with 835 points followed by Steve Carlson with 818
points. Eddie Hoffman, Eric Fransen, Justin Diercks, Tim Schendel and
Brian Hoppe round out the top seven in the NASCAR Midwest Series
standings.
After five events in which the series has enjoyed four
different race winners, the series will next travel to Wisconsin's
Lake Geneva Raceway on June 28th.
NASCAR FEATHERLITE SOUTHWEST SERIES
SONOMA, CA (June 21) -- Forty-seven cars attempted to make the
42-car field for the 65-lap Snap-On Tools/Jelly Belly 200, in the
NASCAR Featherlite Southwest Series on Saturday at Infineon Raceway's
(formerly known as Sears Point Raceway) road course. Todd Souza earned
the pole after collecting his first Bud Pole Award of 2003. Joining
Souza in the front row was Burney Lamar.
The race began with fourth starting Kevin Harvick
moving into the race lead before the end of the first 2.52-mile
circuit. A series of cautions and pit stops shuffled the field several
times with Harvick pitting early giving the lead to Todd Souza. Souza
led until lap 23, when Eric Holmes took a turn out front when Souza
hit the pits. Holmes led until lap 29. That's when Dan Holtz took over
at the point. Holtz led until lap 34, when Harvick regained control of
the race. Harvick led the remainder of the distance taking the win and
collecting $7,500 in his Snap-On Tools sponsored Chevrolet.
Eighth starting road course ace Boris Said finished in
second place 3.9 seconds behind Harvick, while 17th starting David
Brown took third. Jim Inglebright and Tyler McQuarrie rounded out the
top five as 15 of the 42 starters finished the race on the lead lap.
Harvick became the series' sixth different winner in
six events contested to date in the NASCAR Featherlite Southwest
Series. The series has 14 races on its 2003 schedule.
Auggie Vidovich currently leads the Southwest Series
standings with 930 points followed by Eric Holmes with 831 points. Jim
Pettit II, Eddy McKean and Dan Holtz round out the top five.
The NASCAR Southwest Series is back in action this
weekend, June 28, at Mesa Marin Raceway in Bakersfield,
CA.
NASCAR FEATHERLITE MODIFIED SERIES
SEEKONK, ME (June 21) -- Rain postponed Saturday's NASCAR
Featherlite Modified Series Coca-Cola 150, at Seekonk Speedway. The
race will be rescheduled at a later date. The next event on the series
schedule is this Sunday, June 29, at New Jersey's Wall Township
Speedway.
