LAKEVILLE,
IN -- Four of the five NASCAR divisions Hoosier exclusively provides
tires for were to have been in action over the past weekend, but rain
forced the NASCAR Southeast Series to postpone Saturday's running of
the "AutoZone 150" at Myrtle Beach Speedway until August
7th. In the highly competitive NASCAR Southwest Series, the first
seven events of the 2004 season have produced seven different
winners--until Saturday when Jim Pettit II won the
"StarNursery.com 125" at Madera Speedway becoming that
series' first repeat winner of the season. Ironically, Pettit's first
win of the year also came at Madera Speedway back in March. In the
NASCAR Featherlite Modified Series, Nevin George added his name to the
growing list of first-time winners this year when he captured the
"New England Dodge Dealers 150" at Beech Ridge Motor
Speedway on Saturday. It was that series' seventh different winner in
nine events this year with only Tony Hirschman and Jerry Marquis
having more than one win--each with two wins apiece. In the NASCAR
Midwest Series, Justin Diercks continued his amazing season notching
his fourth win of the year winning the "Midwest Series Ohio
150" at Mansfield (OH) Motorsports Speedway. It was Diercks'
fourth win in the last five races. Steve Carlson is the other event
winner in the series with two wins.
