WEEKEND NASCAR REPORT

NASCAR Touring SeriesLAKEVILLE, IN (July 13) -- Three of four NASCAR Touring Divisions that Hoosier exclusively supplies tires for were in action on Saturday. In the NASCAR Featherlite Modified Series, Jan Leaty captured the New England 100 in Loudon, New Hampshire. It was Leaty's first victory in the series in five years. The race was to have been completed on Friday, but after 13 circuits, rain forced the postponement until 8:00 am the following day. Leaty earned $15,100 for the win. In the NASCAR All Pro Series and on the heels of his win last week at Myrtle Beach Speedway, Jeff Fultz made it two-in-a-row winning the Hills Brothers 133, at Nashville Superspeedway in Lebanon, TN on Friday. This week's win was worth $14,775 to Fultz. Finally, in the NASCAR RE/MAX Challenge Series, Jon Lemke won his first race of the season and second of his career at Gateway International Raceway in Madison, Illinois. Lemke's win was worth $9,650 to the Minnesota driver.
  

NASCAR FEATHERLITE MODIFIED SERIES

A smiling Jan Leaty after picking up his first NFMS win in five years.LOUDON, NH (July 19-20) -- The NASCAR Featherlite Modified Series New England 100 at New Hampshire International Speedway started on Friday, but wasn't completed until Saturday morning after rain forced the postponement of the event after 13 laps were completed. Jan Leaty took the lead from John Blewett, III with just five laps remaining en route to the win. Leaty, who started fifth, earned $15,100 for the win. Rookie Todd Szegedy finished in second place and collected $11,805. Nevin George finished in third and pocketed $8,570.

The race had 42 starters with 23 of them finishing the 100-lap race on the lead lap. John Blewett, III and Jerry Marquis finished fourth and fifth, respectively.

Fifth place finisher Jerry Marquis remains atop the NFMS standings with 1493 points followed by Mike Stefanik with 1464 points. Stefanik finished 8th in the event. 

The series will take a week off before returning to action on August 3, at Riverhead Raceway in Riverhead, New York. 

   

NASCAR ALL PRO SERIES

A happy Jeff Fultz after his All Pro win in SC.LEBANON, TN (July 19) -- Jeff Fultz made it two-in-a-row Friday night in the NASCAR All Pro Series winning the Hills Brothers 133, at Nashville Superspeedway. Fresh off his win at Myrtle Beach Speedway last week, Fultz led every lap from his pole position en route to the win on the 1.333-mile track. Fultz collected $14,775 for the win. Charlie Bradberry finished in second place, while Joe Aramendia took third after starting 21st.

Nine of the 32 starters finished the race on the lead lap. Completing the list of lead-lap finishers were: Shane Sieg (4th), Scott Carlson (5th), David Reutimann (6th), Eddie Hoffman (7th), Stanley Smith (8th) and Erik Darnell (9th). 

With his second consecutive win, Jeff Fultz closes in on first place in the standings. Currently, Charlie Bradberry remains atop the NASCAR All Pro Series standings with 1281 points followed by Fultz with 1274 points--just seven markers out of first place. 

The series resumes action next on August 10th, when they return to Kentucky Speedway in Sparta, Kentucky.

   

NASCAR RE/MAX CHALLENGE SERIES

MADISON, IL (July 20) -- Jon Lemke collected his first NASCAR RE/MAX Challenge Series win of the season and second of his career after winning the RE/MAX Challenge 125 at Gateway International Raceway. Starting fifth, Lemke took the lead from defending series champion Steve Carlson on lap 68 and never relinquished it. Lemke won by just .203 seconds over Carlson who took runner-up honors. The win was worth $9,650 to the Greenfield, Minnesota driver, while Carlson collected $7,250 for his runner-up finish. Brian Hoppe rounded out the top three and pocketed $5,200.

Twenty-nine drivers started the race, with 13 of them finishing on the lead lap. Justin Diercks took fourth place and Jason Schuler charged from last place to finish fifth.

Steve Carlson remains atop the NASCAR RE/MAX Challenge Series with 1361 points followed by Brian Hoppe with 1309 points. 

The series will be in action this Saturday, July 27th, at Pikes Peak International Raceway in Colorado.
