THOMPSON,
CT (September 12) -- Of the five NASCAR regional racing divisions that
Hoosier exclusively provides tires for, only the NASCAR Featherlite
Modified Series was in action. The series was at Thompson
International Speedway for a unique running of the Sunoco 300 race
which featured three 100-lap segments with each driver's finish
averaged together to determine an overall winner. Eddie Flemke
finished second in the first segment, first in the second segment and
sixth in the final segment and was declared the overall winner. It was
Flemke's second victory of the season and closed the gap between
himself and current series points leader Tony Hirschman to just 60
points heading into the final three races of the year.
Flemke pocketed $8,834 with the win. Finishing in
second place was Jerry Marquis who finished third, second and fifth in
the three segments. Marquis collected $6,666 for his efforts. Ted
Christopher claimed third place honors with a fifth, eighth and third
place finish.
Mike Stefanik (8, 6, 4) was fourth, while Rick Fuller
(4, 4, 17), Tom Bolles (1, 25, 2), Jamie Tomaino (7, 12, 11), Chuck
Hossfeld (9, 9, 15), Zach Sylvester (10, 5, 26), and Kevin Goodale
(14, 15, 13) finished fifth through tenth, respectively. Forty cars
started the event with Jerry Marquis capturing the Bud Pole
Award.
The next event on the NASCAR Featherlite Modified
Series schedule is this Friday, September 17th, at New Hampshire
International Speedway.
