STAFFORD
SPRINGS, CT (August 23) -- Teddy Christopher continued his domination
at Stafford Motor Speedway on Friday winning his 4th consecutive race
at the famous 1/2-mile facility. The win was Christopher's series
leading fourth of the season and 10th career win in the NASCAR
Featherlite Modified Series. The Connecticut driver led the final 18
laps of the 150-lap race to take the win in the ASB American Classic
150.
Thirty-one cars started the race that featured Eddie
Flemke and Chuck Hossfeld on the front row after the post qualifying
redraw. Jerry Marquis, the 2000 series champion, won the Bud Pole
Award but drew the sixth starting "pill".
The race featured seven lead changes among four
different drivers. Those leading during the event were Hossfeld, Eddie
Flemke, Christopher and Jerry Marquis.
Christopher started the race in 15th before adroitly
working his way up through the competitive field and taking his first
turn at the lead on lap 64. His lead would last only six circuits
before giving way to previous race winner Eddie Flemke. But
Christopher would regain the lead for good on lap 133 en route to the
win. Christopher earned $8,050 for the win, while Flemke settled for
second place and a $4,055 payout. Rounding out the top three was Jerry
Marquis. Marquis collected $3,970 for third.
Amazingly, over half of the race starters finished the
event on the lead lap. Chuck Hossfeld and rookie Todd Szegedy took
fourth and fifth, respectively.
The race had seven cautions periods for a total of 33
laps.
Jerry Marquis leads in the series standings with 1891
points followed closely by Eddie Flemke with 1873 markers. Rookie Todd
Szegedy is narrowly in third with 1843 points--closely followed by
Rick Fuller with 1839 points.
The NASCAR Featherlite Modified Series will resume
competition on August 31, at Waterford Speedbowl in Waterford, CT.

tire supplier to the NASCAR Featherlite Modified Series during the
