GAINESVILLE,
FL (March 13-16) -- Hoosier-shod drivers continued their steady
performance in the NHRA Series as five drivers made it to the final
round of action in the 34th annual Mac Tools NHRA Gatornationals this
past weekend. On the heels of sending five drivers into the finals at
the last event in Arizona, Team-Hoosier repeated the feat in
Gainesville, FL. Making it into the final round were: Tim McAmis and
Mitch Stott in Pro Mod, Jeff Craig in T/A Funny Car, Thomas Stalba,
Jr. in Super Comp and Steve Matusek in Super Gas.
PRO MOD
In the Pro Mod class it was a pair of Hoosier-shod cars going
head-to-head to determine an ultimate winner. Mitch Stott, fresh off
his record setting 5-second run at Darlington on Valentine's Day, met
Tim McAmis in the final round. Ironically, both drivers were competing
in '63 Corvettes. Stott in the Radiac Adhesives '63 Corvette and
McAmis in the Split Second '63 Corvette. This one was over early when
Stott was unable to get his car to fire giving the win to McAmis.
Fred Hahn, driving the Summit Racing Equipment
Corvette, was the #1 qualifier in Pro Mod on Hoosier
tires.
RUNNER-UP FINISHERS
In T/A Funny Car, Jeff Craig took home runner-up honors as did Thomas
Stalba in Super Comp and Steve Matusek in Super Gas. Other notables
from the event was David Rampy claiming the #1 qualifier in Comp
Eliminator using Hoosier's new 33.0/12.0-15 drag tire.
The next stop in the NHRA Series is in Las Vegas on
April 3-6, for the 4th annual NHRA SummitRacing.com Nationals.
