LAS
VEGAS, NV (April 12-15) -- The NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series was in Las
Vegas last weekend for the 8th annual SummitRacing.com Nationals. While not
many leave Las Vegas winners, drivers on Hoosier racing tires were the
exception this weekend. All six Sportsman finals had drivers in them using the
Indiana-based tire brand. And when it was all over, five Hoosier-shod drivers
came away winners. Joey Severance (near lane in photo), Jay Payne, Jody Lang,
Matt Constant and Rodney Lee were the five winners using Hoosier tires at the
Las Vegas event with David Rampy claiming runner-up finishes in two different
classes.

qualifying. Severance, looking for his first-ever national event win, then
fought his way through eliminations to make it to the final round against
Morgan Lucas who has 11 national event wins to his credit. In
the final race (top photo), Severance took the win over Lucas with a .065 RT
coupled with a 5.359 ET (267.11 mph) to capture his first national event

Hoosier-shod cars. Jody Lang (near lane) and David Rampy (far lane) would lock
horns in the only all-Hoosier final of the weekend.
Lang, driving a Chevy Malibu, defeated Rampy who was in a Chevy
Camaro in a double breakout final. Lang was under his 12.90 dial by .008
seconds while Rampy was .014 under his 11.47 dial. Lang took the win as the lesser
offender.
It was Jody Lang's 12 national event win of his career.

Hoosier's Drag Racing Product Manager Steve Hudspeth, along
with Hoosier's NHRA Track Service Manager John Adamo, were in Las Vegas monitoring
tire performance and answering questions.
Steve Hudspeth commented after the event, "This was the
best weekend this year for Team-Hoosier with (7) participants in all six
sportsman finals with five coming home national event winners."
Congratulations to all the competitors trusting the Hoosier
