Dragster competition. Manzo won in Federal Mogul Funny Car action and
Alan Kenny took his first National win in Super Comp. Each driver
trusted USA-made Hoosier tires to carry them to their respective

Repeating the same scenario at the last National event in Bristol,
it was an "all-Hoosier" final again on Sunday in the
Federal-Mogul Dragster class as Jay Meyer was again in the final
contest. This time, he met FMD rookie Jason Cannon. Meyer used a .481
RT and a 5.548 ET, to Cannon's .560 RT and 5.658 ET to take the win.
This was Meyer's second National event win in a row, his third win in
a row counting the division 4 points race in Hallsville, Texas.
FEDERAL-MOGUL FUNNY CAR
Repeating the "all-Hoosier" theme was the Federal-Mogul
Funny Car class as Frank Manzo met Jay Payne in the finals. Manzo and
Payne were the top two qualifiers for the event. Manzo used a .473 RT
to Payne's .496 to get the early jump on Payne. Manzo proceeded to
post a 5.730 ET to Payne's 5.800 to seal the outcome. The win was
Manzo's first National win of the year.
SUPER COMP
In Super Comp competition, Alan Kenny met James Paul in the
finals. Kenny used a .404 reaction time, to Paul's .426, in route to
his first National event win. Kenny had an 8.927 ET (.027 over) to
Paul's 8.861 ET (-.029) to secure the victory. The win now
brings Hoosier's National event win total to six wins in seven races in the 2001
season.
In other classes, Jeff Strickland made it to the final round in
Stock competition before red lighting which gave the win to Bill
Howell.
