HOOSIER CARS IN SIX NHRA FINALS IN JOLIET

NHRA DRAG RACING SERIESJOLIET, IL (June 3) -- It was another great weekend for Hoosier-shod pilots at the Fourth Annual Lucas Oil Products NHRA Nationals in Joliet, IL this past weekend, as they were involved in an amazing six finals. Bryan Robinson in Super Gas, Greg Tucker in Super Comp, Bill Kissinger in Stock, Lynn Ellison in Super Stock, Cy Chesterman in Federal-Mogul Funny Car and Mike Strasburg in Federal-Mogul Dragster all made it to the finals on Sunday to determine a winner. When the smoke and smell of rubber finally dissipated, three of those Hoosier-shod drivers stood a top the field in their respective classes.

SUPER GAS
In Super Gas competition, Bryan Robinson got a BIG jump at the start with a .417 second RT to his competitor's .481 RT. Robinson's ET was 9.954 seconds on the 9.90 index, for a .054 difference on the over/under index. Scotty Richardson owns the car Bryan was driving and is the same car Scotty is leading the Super Gas points with. The tire Bryan was using is the Hoosier 33.0/16.0-15 D05. 

SUPER COMP
Greg Tucker got the benefit of a red light by his competition in the final round to take home the victory in Super Comp. Tucker, a strong Division 4 driver, had a .442 RT and a 8.927 ET on a 8.90 index. Tucker was using Hoosier's 33.0/16.5-15S C07 tire in route to his title.

SUPER STOCK
In an extremely close finish, Lynn Ellison took the Super Stock title by approximately four feet (.022 seconds) over his competition. Ellison, using Hoosier's 14.5/33.0-15L  C07 tire, had a dial of 10.23, a RT of .569 and an ET of 10.243 for an over/under index of .013 to take the win. This was Ellison's first Super Stock National event win in 2001 and third National win in four years of National event competition at the Joliet Route 66 Raceway. 

In other final round competition, Bill Kissinger in Stock, on a pair of Hoosier 30.0/9.0-15 Radial C07's, Cy Chesterman in F/M Funny Car, on a pair of 34.5/17.0-16 C06's and Mike Strasburg, on a pair of Hoosier 34.5/17.0-16 C06's all made it to the final round. All three drivers came away with the runner-up position in their respective classes.

Hoosier Drag Racing Product Manager Faron Lubbers attended the event and commented, "NHRA did an absolutely fabulous job keeping the track surface in excellent condition considering the cool, overcast and sometimes rainy weather."  

Next stop on the NHRA National tour is Columbus, OH for the 37th Annual running of the Pontiac Excitement Nationals, June 14-17.
