HOOSIER-SHOD DAVID RAMPY PASSES
DON PRUDHOMME ON ALL TIME NHRA WIN LIST

7-02-03

David Rampy notches #50 at the Sears Craftsman NHRA NationalsMADISON, IL (June 26-29) -- When David Rampy and his Hoosier drag tires won the Competition Eliminator final over the weekend, it was his 50th National event win of his career and places him eighth on the most career wins list--passing Don "The Snake" Prudhomme. (John Force stands atop the all-time win list with 106 career wins.) Ironically, next on the list is another Hoosier-shod driver Frank Manzo in seventh with 54 wins, while Pat Austin, who rides on Hoosier tires is fourth on the list with 75 wins. Rampy joined five other drivers using Hoosier tires in making it to their respective class finals as Team-Hoosier had more drivers in the final round in the six classes in which they compete than all other tire brands combined. In Pro Mod, Thomas Patterson was in the final round on Hoosiers, James Paul was in the Stock final. In Super Comp, it was two Hoosier-shod cars competing to determine an ultimate winner when Sherman Adcock and Mark Horton met in the final. And in Super Gas, Mark Horton was in his second final contest of the weekend looking for a double-up weekend.

PRO MOD
Thomas Patterson settled for runner-up honors after getting a big jump off the line with his .023 RT to his opponent's .085 RT. But Patterson got out of the groove and crossed over the centerline resulting in his disqualification. Patterson got his tremendous jump using Hoosier's 34.5/17.0-16 C2000 drag tires. Earlier in the competition, Tim McAmis earned number one qualifier status in the class also using Hoosier tires.

COMP ELIMINATOR
David Rampy, using Hoosier's 33.0/12.0-15 C10 drag tires, scored an easy win in the Comp Eliminator final. His opponent, knowing he was facing the formidable Rampy, left early resulting in a red light handing Rampy his fifth National event win of the season and 50th career win. The 50 wins pushed Rampy past the infamous Don "The Snake" Prudhomme on the all time NHRA win list. Rampy takes over sole possession of eighth place on the all-time win list. Ironically, another Hoosier-shod driver is seventh on the list--Frank Manzo. With Pat Austin solidly in fourth on the list, Team-Hoosier has three drivers in the top eight spots on the all-time NHRA win list.

STOCK
James Paul, using Hoosier's 30.0/9.0-15 C07 radial drag tires, captured the National win defeating the reigning class champion. Paul put a near perfect reaction time of .006 RT together with a perfect 11.740 run (11.74 dial) to take the win in stock.

SUPER COMP
In Super Comp, it was two Hoosier-shod drivers meeting in the final round. Sherman Adcock, Jr., using Hoosier's 33.0/16.0-15S C07 drag tires, met Mark Horton who was on Hoosier's 33.5/17.0-16 C06 drag tires. This one was over early however, when Horton left early handing the win to Adcock. Horton was hoping to become only the sixth driver in history to double-up with wins in both Super Comp and Super Gas, but it was not to be. Congratulations goes out to Sherman who has been a longtime Hoosier-shod driver.

SUPER GAS
A funny thing happened on the way to the Super gas finals. Seems no one in the semi-final wanted to face Mark Horton, or so it seemed. The two would-be opponents each refused to stage their cars in the semi-final round after repeated requests by the NHRA officials. After four or five requests and no takers, the decision was made to disqualify both drivers handing the win to Horton who only had to show up for the final to take the win.

Hoosier Drag Racing Product manager Steve Hudspeth was on-hand during the running of the 7th annual Sears Craftsman NHRA Nationals in Madison, IL. Steve was there to answer questions and lend support to the members of Team-Hoosier.
