DENVER,
CO (July 18-21) -- Hoosier tires were very much a presence at the 23rd
annual Mopar Parts Mile-High Nationals in Denver, Colorado over the
weekend. With no alcohol classes competing, the 13th stop in the
series saw the purple tire brand carry four drivers into the final
round in three different classes. Brad Erb was in the final round in
the Stock class, while Tim Ekart was in the finals in Super Comp. The
Super Gas final pit a pair of Hoosier-shod drivers against each other
to determine a class winner. Mike Bonfield met Gary Vang to determine
the Super Gas winner.
SUPER GAS
In "all-Hoosier" Super Gas final, Mike Bonfield met Gary
Vang to determine the class winner. Vang got the jump at the light
with a .418 RT to Bonfield's .427 RT. At the stripe, both drivers were
faster than the 10.53 index which resulted in a double breakout.
Bonfield was the lesser offender with a 10.529 ET (-.001) over Vang
and his 10.510 ET (-.021) resulting in Bonfield taking the win.
SUPER COMP
In the Super Comp final, Tim Ekart took runner-up honors after
coming up short at the stripe by a mere two feet.
STOCK
In Stock, Brad Erb took runner-up honors in the 23rd annual Mopar
Parts Mile-High Nationals using the Hoosier brand.
Congratulations to the many members of Team-Hoosier
who competed at this year's Mile-High Nationals.
The NHRA Series will be back in action this week, July
26-28, for the 15th annual Lucas Oil NHRA Northwest Nationals in
