KENT,
WA (July 23-25) -- The NHRA Series was in action over the weekend in
Washington for the 17th annual CARQUEST Auto Parts NHRA Nationals
where six Hoosier-shod drivers battled their way to their respective
class finals in hopes of taking home a "Wally". In Top
Alcohol Dragster, Kim Parker was a finalist, while John Patton was a
final round competitor in Top Alcohol Funny Car. David Connolly was
looking for his second career National win in Super Comp, while it was
an all-Hoosier final in Super Gas with Jon Brazeau and George Scott,
III battling it out to determine a winner. In Super Street, Ted
Kellner fought his way into the finals bringing Team Hoosier's total
to six drivers making it to the final round at the CARQUEST Nationals.
TOP ALCOHOL DRAGSTER
In T/A Dragster, Kim Parker took home runner-up honors on Hoosiers in her "The Mercedes Shoppe" B/AD. Her average
speed in the final was 252.85 mph.
TOP ALCOHOL FUNNY CAR
John Patton, in the Foolish Money II Firebird, also settled for the
runner-up spot in T/A Funny Car when he red lighted in the final
contest.
SUPER COMP
In Super Comp, Hoosier-shod David Connolly captured the National event
win defeating his opponent with a .018 RT and a 8.880 ET (8.90 index)
in a double breakout final. It was Connolly's second career National
event win.
SUPER GAS
It was an all-Hoosier final in Super Gas with Jon Brazeau meeting
George Scott, III. Brazeau took the win with a .016 RT and 9.901 ET
(9.90 index) for a .001 package to Scott's .040 RT and 9.919 ET for a
.019 package. It was Brazeau's first-ever National event win. The
margin of victory was .0423 seconds.
SUPER STREET
In Super Street, Ted Kellner settled for runner-up honors coming up 24
inches short of the win at the finish line.
Overall it was a successful weekend for members of Team
Hoosier as the NHRA Series gets right back at it this weekend (July
30-August 1) at Sonoma, CA for the 17th annual Fram Autolite NHRA
Nationals.
