KENT,
WA (July 26-28) -- The NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series held the 15th
annual Lucas Oil NHRA Northwest Nationals over the weekend at
Washington's Pacific Raceways. The event saw four Hoosier-shod drivers
make their way into their respective class finals. Mark Hentges made
it to the final round in Top Alcohol Dragster, while it was a pair of
Hoosier equipped cars squaring off in the finals of the Top Alcohol
Funny Car final. Mert Littlefield and John Patton would do battle to
determine which Hoosier-shod car would collect top honors. In Super
Street, Seattle's Steven Radunovich would carry the Hoosier banner
into the final round of action.
TOP ALCOHOL DRAGSTER
Mark Hentges took runner-up honors in the T/A Dragster class while
riding atop a pair of Hoosier's 34.5/17.0-16 C4000 drag tires.
Hentges' speed was 261.32 mph compared to his opponents 255.39 mph.
TOP ALCOHOL FUNNY CAR
There would definitely be a Hoosier-shod Wally winner in the T/A
Funny Car class, as both competitors were outfitted on the Hoosier
brand. Mert Littlefield and John Patton squared off with both drivers
using Hoosier's 34.5/17.0-16 C2000 drag tires. Littlefield got the
advantage at the light with a .465 RT to Patton's .543 RT. Littlefield
then posted the better ET (5.758 ET) to capture the win over Patton
(5.768 ET). Littlefield's speed was 245.45 mph to Patton's 247.11 mph.
The win was Littlefield's first National event win.
SUPER STREET
Steven Radunovich took runner-up honors in Super Street.
Radunovich had the better ET of 10.965 to his opponent's 10.988 on the
10.90 index, but his opponent was able to make up the difference with
a better reaction time at the light.
Hoosier Drag Racing Product Manager Faron Lubbers
attended the event and commented, "Despite the rather wet weather
we encountered, the Hoosiers performed well and we are looking forward
to the upcoming event in Sonoma (CA) for even better results."
The next NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series event will
be August 2-4, in Sonoma California where the 15th annual Fram
Autolite Nationals will be contested.
Congratulations to all the competitors at the event particularly
those who entrusted the Hoosier brand for their drag racing tire
needs.
