AT NHRA NATIONALS IN BRAINERD

Cy Chesterman in the near lane captures the win over fellow Hoosier-shod competitor Kirk Williams in the T/A Funny Car final (photo courtesy of nhra.com)BRAINERD, MN (August 15-18) -- The finals in Top Alcohol Funny Car, Super Comp and Super Gas were dominated by Hoosier-shod cars at the 21st annual Rugged Liner NHRA Nationals in Brainerd, MN over the weekend. All three class finals had both combatants riding atop the Hoosier brand. The Team-Hoosier drivers making it to their respective class finals were Shelly Howard (Top Alcohol Dragster), Cy Chesterman and Kirk Williams (Top Alcohol Funny Car), Gary Stinnett and Michael Miller (Super Comp), and Sheldon Gecker, Sr. and Mike Ferderer (Super Gas).

TOP ALCOHOL DRAGSTER 
Shelly Howard and her Hoosier 34.5/17.0-16 C4000 drag tires took runner-up honors in the T/A Dragster final despite posting a better reaction time and top speed. Howard posted a .460 RT to her opponent's .482 RT and a speed of 255.24 mph versus her adversary's 252.52 mph speed, but came up short at the finish line.

TOP ALCOHOL FUNNY CAR
In the T/A Funny Car final, it was a Trans Am over a Firebird. Cy Chesterman captured the win over fellow Hoosier-shod competitor Kirk Williams. Chesterman's speed was 240.55 mph en route to the win. Both drivers compete on Hoosier 34.5/17.0-16 C2000 drag tires. The win was Chesterman's 13th career National event win.

SUPER COMP  
Gary Stinnett and Michael Miller met head-to-head in the Super Comp final in yet another Hoosier vs. Hoosier final. Stinnett posted the slightly better reaction time with a .419 RT to Miller's .424 RT to get the early jump. Stinnett then combined the better light with an 8.910 ET on the 8.90 index for a .010 difference and took the win when Miller broke out with an 8.866 ET. Stinnett used a pair of Hoosier 33.5/17.0-16 C06 drag tires in capturing the win.

SUPER GAS
In a third "all-Hoosier" final, Sheldon Gecker, Sr. met Mike Ferderer in the Super Gas final. Gecker got the better light with a .415 RT to Ferderer's .439 RT to get the early advantage. Ferderer then finished ahead of Gecker at the stripe but was under the 9.90 index with a 9.895 ET giving Gecker the breakout win after Gecker's 9.937 ET (.037 over) run. Gecker used a pair of Hoosier 33.0/16.5-15S C07 drag tire en route to the win.

Congratulations to all the competitors opting to compete on the Hoosier brand at the 21st annual Rugged Liner NHRA Nationals. 

The next stop on the NHRA POWERade Series schedule is the 48th annual Mac Tools US Nationals in Indianapolis, August 28 through September 2. Team-Hoosier looks for another good outing on what could be termed their "home-turf" with the series making its one Indiana stop of the year.
