LAKEVILLE,
IN -- SCCA has approved the old style Mini Coopers to compete
in SCCA Club Racing as a limited prep car in the H Production class.
Currently, the only slick tires produced that fit these cars are
manufactured by a non-U.S. company. These tires have been difficult to
procure and the nature of their origin (U.K.) causes the price of the
tire to be somewhat costly for use in the States.
Hoosier has been producing a "spec tire" for
a Mini group that races in New Zealand for approximately six years.
That tire is the 155/450-10 R75 tire (Catalog #43050). The R75
compound is durable and well suited to withstand the load and abuse
the front tires receive on these front-wheel drive vehicles. The R45
compound will be supplied to fit on the rear wheels to balance the
handling. The estimated usage ratio will be 2:1 front vs. rear.
The suggested retail
price of the new Mini tires will be $127.50.
