LAKEVILLE,
IN -- Thanks to veteran racer Keith Kauffman, Team-Hoosier retained
their unblemished record in Pennsylvania at both Lincoln and Williams
Grove Speedways. On Saturday at Lincoln Speedway, Kauffman captured
the 25-lap feature and collected the $2,500 winner's paycheck. Then,
on Sunday at Williams Grove, the 51-year old Kauffman captured that
track's 410 feature race. The victory earned the Mifflintown driver
$3,000 for a total of $5,500 for the weekend.
LINCOLN SPEEDWAY RESULTS
ABBOTTSTOWN, PA - (March 23)
Twenty-nine cars were on hand at Lincoln Speedway Saturday--22 on
Hoosier tires.
All three heat races were won by Hoosier-shod drivers. Greg
Hodnett, Sean Michael and Keith Kauffman each collected heat race
wins.
In the 25-lap feature, 20 of the 24 starters used Hoosier tires.
Tim Dietz would lead the race's first 3 laps before Greg Hodnett took
over the lead. Then, after starting back in 10th, Keith Kauffman,
using a Hoosier D10/D12 left rear/right rear combination, passed Greg
Hodnett on lap 17 to take over the race lead. Kauffman then held off
the late race challenges of Todd Shaffer for the final three circuits
to capture the win.
Kauffman pocketed $2,500 for the win. Finishing in second place
was Todd Shaffer who was also on a Hoosier D10/D12 set-up. Greg
Hodnett (D10/RD12), Fred Rahmer (RD12/RD12), and Jeff Shepard
(RD12/RD12) rounded out the top five sweep for Team-Hoosier. In
fact, the first seven drivers to cross the stripe were Hoosier-clad
drivers. Brook Weibley and Johnny Mackison, Jr. finished in sixth and
seventh place, respectively. Bobby Weaver was tenth and was the final
Hoosier-shod driver in the top ten.
The win made Kauffman the track's first repeat winner in 2002.
Kauffman won the season opener. In the 358 Sprints, 17 of the 24
feature starters were on Hoosier rubber. Chad Trout took the 20-lap
win as Team-Hoosier swept the top seven. Billy Dietrich, Chad Layton,
Eric Stambaugh, Alan Krimes, Dan Dietrich and Blane Heimbach finished
second through seventh, respectively. WILLIAMS GROVE
SPEEDWAY - MECHANICSBURG, PA - (March 24)
On Sunday at Williams Grove Speedway, 17 of the 24 (410) feature
starters were sporting Hoosier tires for the 25-lap feature. As the
track began to take rubber, Kauffman once again proved he could come
from behind to capture the win. Starting ninth, Kauffman methodically
worked his way up through the field to take over the race lead on lap
15. From there, Kauffman cruised to nearly a half-a-straightaway
victory en route to collecting the $3,000 top prize.
Kauffman used a pair of Hoosier RD12's for the race win. Lance
Dewease finished in second and also used a pair of RD12's. Jeff
Shepard took third on a pair of D12's. Sean Michael, Greg Hodnett, Len
Thompson, and Tim Kuhn rounded out fourth through seventh place,
respectively. In the 358 sprint car feature and on the heels of his
3rd place finish Saturday at Lincoln Speedway, Chad Layton, using a
pair of Hoosier D12's, captured the win. Thanks to Bobby
Wirts from Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic for providing the details for
this story. Congratulations to all the Team-Hoosier members and fans
at Lincoln Speedway and Williams Grove Speedway for making this the
best-ever season start for Hoosier Tire in Pennsylvania. |
