Lakeville, IN (August 13, 2004) --
Grand American Road Racing Association and Hoosier Racing Tire Corp.
announced a three-year agreement today that will make Hoosier the
Official Tire of Grand American Road Racing for the 2005 through 2007
seasons. All classes in the Rolex Sports Car Series and Grand-Am Cup
series will compete exclusively on Hoosier tires, making Hoosier the
only tire company to supply two major American road racing
championships during the same period.
"Hoosier is the largest racing tire
manufacturer in the world, and I am convinced that they are fully
equipped to supply tires for the Rolex Sports Car Series and the
Grand-Am Cup Series," said Grand American President Roger
Edmondson. "After visiting the Hoosier plant in Indiana, I am
thoroughly pleased with Hoosier's quality and procedures. And with the
success we've had developing tires for the Grand-Am Cup Series over
the past few years, I know that Mike Kraemer and the
Hoosier engineering crew will be great partners as we bring the
Hoosier brand into the Rolex Series."
"We are very excited about the opportunity to
create new jobs for the community," said Bob Newton, CEO and
President of Hoosier Racing Tire Corporation. "Hoosier strives to
be as much a part of the local communities as possible and helping
local residents embark on new careers is a great way for us to
help."
By creating this partnership with Grand American
Road Racing Association, Hoosier Racing Tire has made it possible to
offer some new and exciting jobs to the communities of Plymouth and
Lakeville. There will be new engineering jobs, and tire manufacturing
jobs at Hoosier Tire and Rubber, located in Plymouth and track service
