LAKEVILLE, IN (November
8) -- Danny "The Dude" Lasoski
captured his first-ever Pennzoil World of Outlaws championship in Las
Vegas over the weekend while riding aboard USA-made Hoosier tires.
Lasoski won the title by 30 points over Mark Kinser in the closest
points race in Outlaws history. The two night event at Las Vegas Motor
Speedway capped a season in which Hoosier tires dominated all other
tire manufacturers on dirt tracks across the country, winning 63 of 99
events. Lasoski's victory also marks the second consecutive season
a driver using Hoosier tires has won the championship in sprint
racing's elite series. Steve Kinser won the Pennzoil World of Outlaws
Series crown in 2000, in his first season using Hoosier tires and gave
Hoosier Racing Tire Corp it's first-ever series championship.
The recently completed Pennzoil
World of Outlaws season marked the best-ever in the history of Hoosier
Racing Tire Corp. In 99 races, Team-Hoosier captured an amazing 63
wins, 77 runner-up finishes and 62 third place finishes. Even
more impressive, 36 of those 99 races ended in a 1-2-3 finish for
Team-Hoosier, compared to three, for all other tire manufacturers
combined! The season started strong and ended even stronger, as
Team-Hoosier won 20 of the first 22 events of the season, with eleven of
those races ending in a 1-2-3 Hoosier finish. While at the end of the season,
Team-Hoosier won 15 of the last 18 races, as 10 of the 18 races
ended in a 1-2-3 Hoosier finish. The final points standings
had the top four drivers using Hoosier tires. Danny Lasoski won the
championship by 30 points over Mark Kinser. Defending series champion,
Steve Kinser, wound up third followed by last year's Gumout champion,
Craig Dollansky. Other Hoosier-shod drivers in the top ten were Andy
Hillenburg in sixth place and Joey Saldana in seventh place as Hoosier
tires were the tire of choice by six of the top seven drivers in the final
standings. Other Team-Hoosier drivers to finish in the top twenty in
points were, Paul McMahan (11th), Brad Furr (12th), Danny Wood (13th),
Jason Meyers (14th), Randy Hannagan (16th), Johnny Herrera (17th), and
Daryn Pittman (19th). Hoosier not only lays claim to back-to-back championships
in the Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series, they also accomplished the
same feat in the Outlaws' junior circuit as well. Daryn
Pittman won the championship this season on Hoosier tires, after
Craig Dollansky won the series crown in 2000, in the series' inaugural
season. In the All Star Circuit of Champions, Kenny Jacobs earned
the series championship on Hoosier tires. Danny
Lasoski, Daryn Pittman, Kenny Jacobs, in
addition to hundreds of dirt track champions across the country,
trusted USA-made Hoosier tires en route to their respective championships
and have
contributed to the most successful sprint season in the history of
Hoosier Racing Tire Corp. Hoosier sprint tire product manager, Neil
Cowman, commented, "Without a doubt this has been our best season
ever in the sprint tire line. All the testing and product development
has really paid big dividends. When Steve (Kinser) signed on with
Hoosier in 2000 and then won the Outlaws championship his first year
using Hoosiers, it not only opened a lot of eyes, it also gave us
credibility." Cowman added, "While we are extremely
pleased with the back-to-back titles in both the Pennzoil World of
Outlaws and the Gumout series, we remain committed to providing the
best race tires in the world, and so, we will continue our testing and
product development program in the months and years to come to remain
the tire-of-choice in sprint racing." Bob Newton, Hoosier
President and CEO had this to say about claiming the championship in
sprint racing's premier series, "I am very happy for Danny and
his entire team. Danny was one of the first to use Hoosier tires in
the Outlaws series and his loyalty since then has been second to none.
We are proud to have such a great driver, and an even better person,
using our tires." Hoosier World of Outlaws service
manager, Todd Seitz, will continue in his capacity during the 2002
season. Amazingly, Todd has handled Hoosier's trackside sales at every
Outlaw event since 2000. Todd's knowledge of Hoosier tires and his
inventory control capabilities were a major factor in the success
Hoosier has enjoyed over the previous two Pennzoil World of Outlaws
seasons. All Hoosier racing tires are manufactured by Americans in
the USA. |
