MONROE,
WA (April 19, 2009) -- Amanda and Colton Price were all smiles after capturing
wins in the season-opening Washington Quarter Midget Association Region 9 race
on Sunday. The brother and sister combination each rode Hoosier tires to
victory in their respective classes.
The redesigned track meant old records would fall and a rare opportunity for
103 competitors to etch their names into the record books.
Amanda Price, racing in the Heavy 160 class, used Hoosier's new A35 compound
to post a qualifying time which placed her on the front row of the A main
event. Although the A main feature was riddled with cautions and was shortened
as a result, Amanda was ready on each restart and went on to collect the A main
victory.
However, Amanda's brother Colton didn't fair as well in qualifying. Due to a
shock issue, Colton started his feature from the rear of the field in the 340#
World Formula A main event.
Colton, also using Hoosier A35's, began his march to the front by skillfully
maneuvering through race traffic. In fact, during one long green flag run
Colton was approaching a 1/2 lap advantage over the entire field!
Despite several cautions, Colton and his Hoosiers were up to the task.
Colton went on to win the World Formula A main after starting from the rear of
the field.
