EVERETT,
WA (August 7) -- Five-year-old Isaac (Ike) Abenroth, a member of the Washington
Quarter Midget Association (WQMA), received an early birthday present Sunday
capturing his first A-main win. Ike, who turned six just three days after the
win, came from the tail of the field. The victory came while riding on Hoosier
quarter midget tires.
The day began with Ike capturing fast time in qualifying on the 1/20-mile
track with a lap of 7.50 seconds. The time was tops among the 14 cars on hand
in the Jr. Novice class.
The lineup for the feature had a four-car invert placing Ike on the outside
of the second row. However, when the pole sitter came into the pits prior to
the green flag Ike moved up to the (better) inside lane starting position for
the race start. Around lap 6, Ike made contact with another competitor and was
sent to the back of the field. Not to be denied, Ike motored his way back to
the front to capture his first A-main win in spectacular fashion. Ike's win
came while using A30 tires on the right side and D20's on the left side of his
rocket ship.
Hoosier Racing Tire Corp. congratulates Isaac Abenroth for his exciting win
using Hoosier racing tires. Good luck the remainder of the season!
