MONT-TREMBLANT,
QUEBEC, CANADA (May 20, 2005) -- Hoosier Racing Tire Crew Heads North of the
border to Mont-Tremblant, Canada. For the 6 Heures du Circuit Mont-Tremblant,
May 19 – May 21, 2005, along with the Grand American / Rolex series.
The entry list for the
race on Saturday May 21, 2005 consist of 20 Daytona Prototypes (DP) and 22
Grand Touring (GT) cars of the rapidly-growing Grand American Road Racing
Association's Rolex Sports Car Series. The DP and GT cars, will do battle
Saturday May 21, 2005. On the 4.26 km / 2.65 miles of hills, fifteen
twists and turns, and Hoosier Racing Tire as the exclusive tire supplier for
all Grand American Road Racing classes.
Since the season-opening
Rolex 24 At Daytona, the margin of victory in Rolex Series events has not
exceeded 1.198 seconds in 250-mile races at Homestead-Miami Speedway,
California Speedway and Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. Included in the run was the
closest finish in Rolex Series history when defending Daytona Prototype
co-champion Scott Pruett drove his No. 01 CompUSA Chip Ganassi Racing Lexus
Riley across the finish line just 0.096 seconds ahead of Max Angelelli in the
No. 10 SunTrust Racing Pontiac Riley to secure his first victory of the season.
While this weekend's race
distance will be significantly longer than each of the previous three events,
the ever-increasing competition and reliability of Daytona Prototype race cars
will likely force the teams to maintain a "sprint race" mentality
despite the six-hour format. While the CompUSA and SunTrust teams have been the
only ones to stand on the top step of the podium through the first four races,
plenty of others have shown the ability to run up front and are poised for
breakthrough victories at any time. Hoosier Racing Tire staff on hand includes
tire technicians to mount and dismount throughout the event. In addition,
Hoosier's engineering staff is working closely with all teams to optimize car
set-up and monitor tire performance.
Quote from Gary
Freymiller Hoosier Racing Tire Engineer: "After the first practice / test
day all seems to be going well. We have added 'Spring Rate Labels' to our tires
to help to get the cars properly adjusted. We are receiving positive feedback
from all of the teams as this will be quite useful for them. Hoosier has added
equipment in our factory to produce this information to label
efficiently."
Early afternoon practice
on May 19, 2005: After Thursday practice, the DP No. 10, Sun Trust Racing teams
Pontiac Riley, driven by Taylor / Angelelli was quickest (1:30.611 best lap
time, coming in lap number 22, 105.285 mph). GT cars after today's practice
