 LOGANSPORT,
IN (July 12) -- The Outlaw Winged Nationals Championships were
contested this past Saturday with Hoosier-shod drivers winning every
dash and feature race during the special event at US 24 Speedway in
Logansport. The event was to have been completed on July 5th, but rain
forced it to be rescheduled to July 12th. Despite the delay, drivers
using Hoosier tires were ready at the Indiana 1/8-mile clay oval. As
reported by Hoosier Dealer Paul Moyer, we should all keep our eyes on
the progress of 12-year-old hot shoe Jonathon Hendricks (shown in
photo). After winning the trophy dash and finishing runner-up in the
feature on the 3rd of July, the 600 restrictor driver won the feature
on the 4th and both the trophy dash and feature in the Outlaws Winged
National Championships. The Outlaw Winged Nationals win was Hendricks
sixth feature win of the season.
The Outlaws Winged Nationals were comprised of three
classes competing in a Semi, a Dash and finally a feature race. The
three classes were the 600 restrictor class, the 600 stock class and
the 600 open class.
In the 600 restrictor races, Jonathon Hendricks won
the trophy dash and followed up that performance by winning the 30-lap
feature.
In the 600 stock class, Derek Losh won the trophy
dash, while Dane Ronk won the 40-lap feature.
Finally, in the 600 open class, Dusty Parkhurst
completed the Hoosier sweep winning both the trophy dash and the
40-lap feature.
Hoosier Open Wheel Dirt Product Manager Neil Cowman commented,
"Paul (Moyer) has done a great job at US 24. He is a great
representative for Hoosier and really goes out of his way to help the
competitors get on the right track." Cowman continued, "The
six wins by six Hoosier-shod drivers could not have been achieved
without Paul's hard work at the track each week." Cowman
concluded, "We are also very pleased that the engineering success
we are achieving other series' like the World of Outlaws are also benefiting
the local dirt racers like the one's at US 24 Speedway."
US 24 Speedway is a 1/8-mile clay oval featuring
weekly 600 winged sprint racing located just outside Logansport.
