ANDERSON,
IN (April 10, 2005) -- Dave Steele led all 50 laps of the USAC Sprint Car
Series opener at Anderson Speedway on Sunday. Thirty-seven competitors were on
hand with Bobby East setting fast time on the 1/4-mile oval. Steele, who
qualified sixth, led flag-to-flag to capture the Glen Niebel Classic. Aaron
Pierce finished in second place followed by Aaron Fike in third.
TIRES: 17.0/28.0-15 SC1 M45 (RR), 13.0/26.0-15 M30 (LR), 12.0/25.0-15
M45 (RF), 11.0/24.0-15 M10 (LF). Anderson is usually one of the easiest tracks
on tires that USAC competes at. As expected, there was little to no tire wear.

Quote from race winner David Steele: "I have always run Hoosiers
in open wheel racing and, once again, they did what they were supposed to do
and that was to get me to victory lane. The tires stayed consistent throughout
the entire 50 lap race."
Quote from Irish Saunders, Hoosier Open Wheel Asphalt Product Manager:
"I was very pleased to see the good car count for the first race of the
season. At Anderson, there is always a lot of action because of the lighting
quick 11-second laps. You can usually be successful running the softest tires
available because of the easy track surface."
