United States Auto ClubANDERSON, IN (April 7) -- The United States Auto Club (USAC) did double duty at Anderson Speedway in the "Glen Niebel Classic" on Sunday with the Midget Car Series and the Sprint Car Series each contesting 50-lap races. Tracy Hines led only one lap in the opening race of the Stoops Freightliner Sprint Car Series, but it was the final lap which gave the former 2000 USAC Silver Crown Champion the victory. Thirty-eight cars posted qualifying times with Dave Steele capturing fast time at 11.516 seconds around the paved 1/4-mile Anderson oval.

Heat race winners included Mike Ling, Dave Durnwald, Bud Kaeding, and Ed Carpenter. Eric Gordon won the 12-lap semi.
