ANDERSON,
IN (May 21) -- Parma, Michigan's Brian Tyler won the 50-lap "USAC
50" at Anderson Speedway Wednesday night. Tyler qualified sixth
fastest among the 34-car field en route to the win. Starting from the
pole, Tyler led every lap of the race in capturing his first USAC
National Sprint Car Series race of the season. The series has
contested six races to date with five different winners. Also
competing last night at Anderson was the Indiana Ford Focus Series. It
was the second race in the series. Bobby East won the 20-lap race
after passing Heather Margo on the second circuit and leading the rest
of the way for the win.
In Sprint Car Series qualifying, Tracy Hines was the
fastest among the 34 hopefuls with a lap of 11.403 seconds around the
1/4-mile Anderson high banks. He was followed by Bud Kaeding, Jay
Drake, J.J. Yeley and Levi Jones.
There were four 10-lap heats contested with Derek
Davidson, Bobby East, Chris Hayes and Michael Lewis each posting wins.
In the 50-lap feature, Brian Tyler took command at the
drop of the green flag and led all 50 laps of the race to capture the
win. Previous race winner J.J. Yeley finished in second followed by
Bud Kaeding, Jay Drake and Cory Kruseman.
The USAC Series competes exclusively on Hoosier tires
when the series competes on pavement.
J.J. Yeley continues to lead the USAC National Sprint
Car Series standings with 372 points followed by Tracy Hines with 309
markers and Bud Kaeding with 302 points. Hines finished eighth in the
feature race.
The next USAC National Sprint Car Series race is
scheduled for Ohio's Eldora Speedway on May 25th.
