ROSSBURG,
OH (September 21, 22) -- The United States Auto Club traveled to
famous Eldora Speedway this past weekend, and you know what that
means. No tire rule on dirt. So competitors are able to run any tire
brand they desire in hopes of capturing the checkered flag. Repeating
last year's performance, all four race winners were Team Hoosier
members. For the second year in a row, USA-made Hoosier tires were the
brand of choice by the winners, which included J.J. Yeley, who
captured two wins, Bud Kaeding and Joey Kramer.
USAC WORLDCOM
NATIONAL MIDGET CAR SERIES
Given the option of using any brand of tires, 24 of the 28
drivers elected to place their trust in the Hoosier tire brand. Their
selection paid off early as the top 16 qualifying times were all
drivers on the purple tire brand. Tracy Hines was fast
qualifier at 16.359 seconds around the 1/2-mile oval followed closely
by J.J. Yeley at 16.376 seconds. All three preliminary heats, as
well as, the 10-lap semi were won by Hoosier-shod drivers. Tracy
Hines, J.J. Yeley and Dave Darland each won their respective heats
while Donnie Lehmann captured the semi win. In the 25-lap feature,
Tony Elliott in the 66x car would take the early lead. Jay Drake would
lead laps 2-11, before J.J. Yeley using a Hoosier D12/D15 combination,
moved into the race lead on lap 12. Yeley led the remainder of the
race to take the first crown of the night. Yeley was followed to the
stripe by five more Team Hoosier members, as Dave Darland, also using
a Hoosier D12/D15 set-up, finished runner-up. Steve Paden finished in
third place on a pair of Hoosier D12's. Aaron Fike and Matt Westfall
completed the "all-Hoosier" top five sweep. All told, nine
of the race's top ten drivers were on Hoosier tires, as 19 of the 22
competitors were Team Hoosier members. Other top ten Team Hoosier
finishers were, Steve Knepper, Donnie Lehmann, Brian Gerster and A.J.
Fike seventh through tenth. USAC STOOPS FREIGHTLINER SPRINT CAR

In the second race of the night, 50 cars posted qualifying times
as 32 teams elected to compete on Hoosier tires. The three fastest
times were posted by Team Hoosier members. J.J. Yeley, coming off his
earlier Midget Car win, posted fast time of 16.013 seconds followed by
Bud Kaeding at 16.342 seconds. Rob Chaney completed the 1-2-3 sweep of
the three fastest times when he was clocked at 16.392 seconds. Two
qualifying races were contested, each producing a Hoosier-shod winner.
Dean Franklin won the first Qualifier, while Jonathan Vennard took the
win in the second Qualifier. Three of the four preliminary heat
races were won by Team Hoosier members. Jay Drake took the first heat
while Bud Kaeding won the second heat and Tracy Hines picked up the
win in the final heat. The 12-lap semi also produced a winner
mounted atop Hoosier tires, as Rob Chaney took the victory. In the
30-lap feature fully 15 of the 24 starters were on Hoosier tires. At
the finish line it was Hoosier collecting the top three spots. Bud
Kaeding finished first on a Hoosier D12/D12 C2000 combination,
followed by J.J. Yeley in second using the same rear tire combination.
Jay Drake using a Hoosier D12/D15 C2000 combination finished
third. In fact, Hoosier tires were on nine of the top ten
finishers. Bill Rose, Jon Stanbrough, Robbie Rice, Derek Davidson,
Mike Brecht and Rob Chaney completed the sweep of positions five
through ten respectively for Hoosier tires. MODIFIED
Joey Kramer was the Modified winner in which all competitors used
Hoosier tires. USAC COORS LIGHT SILVER BULLET SERIES
In the final race of the night, the fourth crown would be awarded
to one of the 24 competitors in the 50-lap feature, a feature that
consisted of 19 Team Hoosier members. Once again, J.J. Yeley was fast
qualifier after he turned a circuit in 16.798 seconds. In the
50-lap feature, Ed Carpenter led the first 13 laps for Team Hoosier
before giving way to J.J. Yeley and his Hoosier D12/D15 C2000
combination, who led the remainder of the event to capture the fourth
"crown" of the night. The finish was also the fourth 1-2-3
sweep of the night for Team Hoosier as Jay Drake finished second and
Paul White came home third to complete yet another purple podium. Hoosier's
sprint tire product manager, Neil Cowman, attended the event and
commented, "This was a great opportunity for me to watch a wide
variety of our tires perform in a very short period of time. The
results were obviously very positive, as Team Hoosier captured the top
three in all four of the night's events." Hoosier Racing Tire
Corp. is proud to have the opportunity to be affiliated with the
United States Auto Club and it's many members. |
