BARBERVILLE,
FL (February 10) -- The 2004 Speedweeks at Volusia Speedway Park
continued Tuesday night with three classes competing on the eastern
Florida 1/2-mile track. In the first of four consecutive nights of
D.I.R.T. Modified racing, Brett Hearn (photo) passed Pat Ward with two
laps remaining in the 30-lap opener to take the win. After Tim
McCreadie won Monday's U.M.P. Late Model opener, Tuesday's feature was
won by Don O'Neal over Steve Francis. The U.M.P. Late Models have four
more nights of racing remaining at Volusia. With five consecutive
nights of racing completed, the U.M.P. Modifieds sixth consecutive
race was captured by Jimmy Owens who beat out Scott Drake for the win.
The U.M.P. Modifieds race again tonight and conclude with Friday
night's finale. All three divisions employ a Hoosier tire-rule in an
effort to reduce the cost of racing for all competitors. For more
