LAKEVILLE,
IN -- For the first time since its inception in 2001, the Wisconsin
Challenge Series (WCS) will run on Hoosier racing tires beginning with
the 2004 season. After months of negotiation, a deal was worked out
between WCS promoting partners Jeff Sachse and Craig Bassuener and
Hoosier Racing Tire's Terry Newton. The WCS features Super Late Models
competing on pavement tracks throughout Wisconsin. The traveling
Wisconsin Challenge Series had a 10-race schedule in 2003, visiting
seven tracks throughout the State. Erik Darnell won the championship
by 96 points over Jeff Kendall who finished five points in front of
third place finisher Chris Weinkauf.
Hoosier's Terry Newton commented on the agreement,
"Jeff (Sachse) and I have been working on this deal for some time
now and I am very pleased we will be able to provide tires for the
Wisconsin Challenge Series this season." Newton added, "With
tracks like Wisconsin Dells Motor Speedway and Lake Geneva Raceway
already running Hoosiers in their weekly Late Model classes, it can
only attract more participants to the Wisconsin Challenge
Series."
In 2004, the series will race on Hoosier's
27.0/10.0-15 tires available in two compounds. The left side tire will
be stamped 3035 and the right side tire will be stamped 3045 which are
the same used in the weekly Late Model classes at six other area race
tracks.
