INDIANAPOLIS, IN (August 14, 2007) -- “The World’s Home of the Figure 8” ® has setup another
great relationship for the biggest weekend of the year, the 31st Annual World
Figure 8 Championship. The yearly gathering of fearless Figure 8 drivers is
September 6th to the 8th. This event will see Hoosier Tire Midwest on hand as
the official tire service of the crossover classic. Their experienced tire
changes will serve as the on site providers of mounting and dismounting of the
race teams tires, the lifeblood of the event. “We are proud to be associated
with this historic event and the fine folks at the Speedrome”, says Hoosier
Tire Midwest general manager Terry Young. “The World Figure 8 always has all
the top competitors from across the country in town for the exciting clash”.
Hoosier Tire last took part in the World Figure 8 Championships in 2001 when
“Big Dog” Bobby Douthitt took home the title and the then record breaking
check for $25,000. That number was surpassed in last year’s 30th anniversary
contest with Curtis McMurtrey scoring his second World crown for a cool thirty
grand. This season’s version will see a very nice $20,000 go to the winning
driver of the three hour long battle. Will we see a World Champion add another
title to his resume or will it be a fresh face in victory lane? The weeks are
clicking by as we near the “Daytona” of figure 8 racing, the World Figure 8
Championship.
