Mechanicsburg,
PA (February 29) -- It took Greg Hodnett just nine laps to charge from
third to first in the season-opener at Williams Grove Speedway on
Sunday. Once out front, Hodnett pulled away from the field to win the
25-lap feature by 3.87 seconds over Todd Shaffer. The race winner
opted to run the feature using a Hoosier D12/RD15 (LR/RR) combination.
Fred Rahmer, Don Kreitz and Lance Dewease rounded out the top five.
All five drivers rode on Hoosier tires. In fact, 24 of the 25 cars on
hand for the opener took to the track using the Hoosier brand.
Williams Grove Speedway is 1/2-mile dirt oval and races weekly on
Sundays in March and moves to Friday nights starting April 2nd. Last
season, Team-Hoosier went undefeated (16-0) at "The Grove"
and before that, amassed a 20-0 mark in 2002. Our thanks to Bobby
Wirts of Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic for reporting the details used in
this report.
