IN -- The World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series contested two one-night
shows over the weekend with Tim Kaeding capturing the win at Tri-State
Speedway in Haubstadt, IN on Friday, while Steve Kinser took a
flag-to-flag win at Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, IL on Saturday.
The two wins extend the current Team Hoosier win streak in the series
to 79 and easily surpasses last year's streak of 50 consecutive wins
as the Hoosier brand closes in on it's fifth consecutive
championship in the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series.
TRI-STATE SPEEDWAY
HAUBSTADT, IN (October 8) -- Forty-three cars jammed the pits at
Tri-State Speedway with all but one of them riding on Hoosier tires.
Sammy Swindell set fast time of the night with a new track record time
of 11.110 seconds around the 1/4-mile track. Steve Kinser was second
followed by Paul McMahan, Craig Dollansky and Joey Saldana. The top 34
times in qualifying were all posted by drivers on the Hoosier
brand.
Shane Stewart, Chad Kemenah, Mark Kinser and Jason
Sides were the four heat race winners. All four drivers captured their
respective wins on Hoosier tires. Donny Schatz won the first Dash,
while Brian Paulus claimed the win in the final Dash race to keep the
Hoosier brand perfect going into the night's final race.
In the 40-lap feature, all 24 cars used Hoosier tires.
The race featured four different leaders including; Brian Paulus
(1-13), Steve Kinser (14-30), Donny Schatz (31) and Tim Kaeding
(32-40). Kaeding took the lead from Schatz using a 92" D10/RD12
(LR/RR) combination en route to the $10,000 win. Finishing in second
place was Sammy Swindell followed by Steve Kinser who each used the
same rear-drive tire combination as the race winner. Donny Schatz
finished in fourth place with Craig Dollansky rounding out the top
five. Paul McMahan finished in sixth place followed by Mark Kinser,
Joey Saldana, Jason Meyers and Daryn Pittman.
TRI-CITY SPEEDWAY
GRANITE CITY, IL (October 9) -- Forty-two cars posted times at
Tri-City Speedway on Saturday with Craig Dollansky setting the top
time among the hopefuls on the Illinois 1/2-mile oval. For the second
consecutive night, all but one of the qualifiers rode on Hoosier
tires. Dollansky's top time was 16.063 seconds followed by Kerry
Madsen, Paul McMahan, Joey Saldana and Sammy Swindell. The 23 top
times in qualifying were recorded by drivers using the Hoosier
brand.
In heat race action, Billy Alley, Daryn Pittman, Tim
Kaeding and Paul May were winners, while Wayne Johnson and Steve
Kinser each captured wins in their respective Dash races. All six
races were won by drivers using Hoosier tires.
In the 30-lap feature, 23 of the 24 starters rode atop
the Hoosier brand. When the race was over, Steve Kinser had taken the
win leading all 30 laps to collect the $10,000 top prize. Kinser used
a pair of Hoosier D12's to take the flag-to-flag victory. Jason Meyers
finished in second place (94" D12/RD12) followed by Danny Lasoski
(94" D12/D12). Joey Saldana finished in fourth place also on a
pair of D12's. Tim Shaffer motored from the 22nd starting spot to
claim fifth place. Shaffer made his amazing run using a 94"
D12/D15 combination.
Craig Dollansky finished in sixth place followed by
Brooke Tatnell, Kraig Kinser, Wayne Johnson and Chad Kemenah, while
Hoosier tires were used by the first 22 drivers to cross the finish
line in the night's final race.
Steve Kinser continues to lead the driver rankings by
more than 100 points over Danny Lasoski. Donny Schatz is solidly in
third place followed by Jason Meyers and Craig Dollansky. Currently,
the top 17 drivers in the rankings use Hoosier tires.
Just seven races remain on the 2004 World of Outlaws
Series schedule. Next up, is a one-night program at State Fair
Speedway in Oklahoma City, OK this Friday, October 15th.
The Hoosier brand is now 79-1 in World of Outlaws
races contested in the United States this season as Team Hoosier draws
closer to its fifth consecutive championship in the series.
