CONCORD,
NC (October 11-12) -- Team-Hoosier swept the podium on both night's of
racing over the weekend at Lowe's Motor Speedway. On Friday, Tyler
Walker, Tim Shaffer and Craig Dollansky finished 1-2-3 for
Team-Hoosier. While on Saturday, Daryn Pittman, Danny Lasoski and Joey
Saldana repeated the feat giving Hoosier its 66th podium sweep of the
season in 91 nights of racing.
PRELIMINARY NIGHT
CONCORD, NC (October 11) -- A total of 39 cars were on hand Friday
evening on the 4/10-mile oval at Lowe's Motor Speedway--33 of them on
Hoosier tires. Greg Hodnett set fast time (11.987 seconds) followed by
Mark Kinser, Joey Saldana, Craig Dollansky, Chad Kemenah, Steve Kinser
and Daryn Pittman--all were riding on Hoosier tires.
All four heat races were won by Hoosier-shod drivers.
Shane Stewart, Donny Schatz, Brad Furr and Tyler Walker each won their
respective 8-lap heat races.
Both dash events were also won by drivers riding on
the Hoosier brand as well. Tim Shaffer captured the first dash with
Tyler Walker claiming the win in the second dash.
In the 25-lap feature, Walker led every lap en route
to collecting the win. Walker, the recently crowned Gumout champion
was dominant all night winning every race he entered. Walker, using a
pair of RD12's collected $5,000 for the win.
Finishing in second place was pole-sitter Tim Shaffer
who opted to run the 25-lap feature on a RD12/D12 (left rear/right
rear) combination. Rounding out the top three was Craig Dollansky.
Dollansky charged from eighth place to take the final podium spot
using a RD12/RD15 set-up.
Team-Hoosier took 10 of the first 11 positions in the
final race of the night. Rounding out the top 11 in the feature on
Hoosiers were: Daryn Pittman (4th); Steve Kinser (6th); Joey Saldana
(7th); Mark Kinser (8th); Danny Lasoski (9th after starting 25th);
Dean Jacobs (10th); and Shane Stewart (11th).
FINAL NIGHT
CONCORD, NC (October 12) -- With the top four drivers from the
preliminary night locked into the feature, 35 cars were left to post
times in qualifying. For the second consecutive night, Greg Hodnett
captured fast time using a pair of Hoosier D10's. Hodnett was followed
by Joey Saldana and Danny Lasoski in time trials as Team-Hoosier
claimed the three fastest times in qualifying.
Three of the four heat races were won by Hoosier-clad
cars. Those heat race winners were Steve Kinser, Brad Furr and Randy
Hannagan.
In the one dash race contested, seven of the eight
combatants rode on Hoosier tires. When the checkered flag fell after 5
laps, Team-Hoosier finished first through seventh in the dash.
In the 30-lap feature, Tyler Walker led the first 26
laps before giving way to Daryn Pittman after his right rear tire lost
air pressure. Pittman led the final four circuits and collected the
win using a Hoosier D12/D15 combination. Pittman earned $12,000 for
the top finish.
Danny Lasoski ($6,000) and Joey Saldana ($4000)
rounded out the top three sweep for Team-Hoosier. The top three
finishers all used the same D12/D15 set-up for the 30-lap feature. In
addition to the top three, Team-Hoosier had five other drivers finish
in the top ten. Craig Dollansky, Greg Hodnett, Steve Kinser, and Shane
Stewart finished fifth through eighth, respectively, while Brad Furr
finished in tenth.
With just eight more nights of racing remaining on the
2002 Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series schedule, Steve Kinser holds a
commanding lead in the points standings followed by Danny Lasoski,
Craig Dollansky, Joey Saldana, Tim Shaffer, Mark Kinser, Donny Schatz
and Brad Furr in second through eighth. All eight drivers use Hoosier
tires. Randy Hannagan resides in tenth place giving Team-Hoosier claim
to nine of the top ten positions in the series standings.
Next up on the Outlaws schedule is a one-night show
this Saturday, October 19th, at Devil's Bowl Speedway in Texas.
