IN (October 15-16) -- The World of Outlaws Series returned to action
this past weekend with two one-night shows. On Friday, Tim Kaeding won
the 30-lap feature at State Fair Speedway in Oklahoma. It was
Kaeding's second win in the last three series races. On Saturday,
Danny Lasoski took the lead from Kaeding with 11 laps to go in the
30-lap feature in Wichita, KS, at 81 Speedway--ironically, it was also
Team Hoosier's 81st win in the series. Also of note, fans of the sport
got their first glimpse of the latest tire offering from Hoosier's
competition which was unveiled at Friday's event.
STATE FAIR SPEEDWAY
OKLAHOMA CITY, OK (October 15) -- Thirty-two cars posted qualifying
times on the 3/8-mile State Fair Speedway on Friday with 31 drivers
opting to run the Hoosier brand. When qualifying was over, Danny
Lasoski had set fast time followed by 20 other Hoosier-shod qualifiers
atop the leader board.
In heat race action, the Hoosier brand finished
1-2-3-4-5 in all four heats with Erin Crocker, Brian Paulus,
Zach Chappell and Daryn Pittman each claiming wins. The first Dash
race was won by Jason Meyers, while the second Dash was won by Donny
Schatz. All 16 starters in the two Dash races rode on Hoosier tires.
In the 30-lap feature, 23 of the 24 starters rode atop
the Hoosier brand. The race began with outside pole sitter Donny
Schatz taking the early lead using a 96" Hoosier D15/D25 (LR/RR)
combination. Schatz led the race's first 19 laps before fourth
starting Tim Kaeding moved into the lead on lap 20. Kaeding, using a
96" RD15/D25 set-up, led the remaining 11 laps to capture his
second win in the last three races. He pocketed $10,000 for the win.
Finishing in second place was Steve Kinser. Kinser, who started sixth,
used a 94" D15/D20 rear-drive combination. Rounding out the top
three was Sammy Swindell who opted to run the 30-lapper using a
94" D12/D15 set-up.
Donny Schatz settled for fourth followed by Jason
Meyers, Craig Dollansky, Brian Paulus, Tim Shaffer, Shane
Stewart and Danny Lasoski in fifth through tenth, respectively. The
first 19 drivers to cross the finish line in the night's feature race
were on Hoosier tires. It was Team Hoosier's 80th consecutive win in
the series.
81 SPEEDWAY
WICHITA, KS (October 16) -- Twenty-eight cars took turns in qualifying
on Saturday at 81 Speedway in Kansas with 26 drivers on Hoosiers and
the other drivers each using tires from the other two competing tire
brands. Danny Lasoski, using Hoosier's softest compound (D10), posted
fast time of the night circling the track in a scant 13.395 seconds.
Nineteen of the 20 fastest times in qualifying were recorded by
drivers using the Hoosier brand.
In heat race competition, it was another Team Hoosier
sweep when Jason Sides, Daryn Pittman and Tim Shaffer each captured
their respective 8-lap heats. In the two Dash races, 15 of the 16
starters rode on Hoosiers. The first Dash was won by Tim Kaeding as
all 8 starters rode atop the Hoosier brand, while in the second Dash,
Billy Alley took the win followed by six more members of Team Hoosier
leaving last place for the lone driver not using the Hoosier brand.
Only two tire companies had drivers in the night's
feature race. Hoosier tires were used by 23 of the 24 starters in the
night's 30-lap finale. Previous night's winner Tim Kaeding took the
early race lead from the pole. Kaeding led the first 12 circuits
before giving way to third starting Danny Lasoski. Lasoski, using a
92" RD12/D12 combination, led the remainder of the race to
capture the $10,000 win. The driver of the #20 JD ByRider car was
followed to the line by Tim Shaffer who motored to the runner-up spot
after starting tenth. Shaffer opted to use a pair of RD12's in the
feature race. Donny Schatz finished in third place after starting
fifth. Schatz used a 94" RD12/D12 combination to claim the final
podium spot.
Steve Kinser finished in fourth place followed by Joey
Saldana, Tim Kaeding, Jason Sides, Billy Alley, Craig Dollansky and
Daryn Pittman in fifth through tenth place. Aaron Berryhill also finished
in 11th place for Team Hoosier.
It was the 81st consecutive win in the World of
Outlaws Series for the Hoosier brand and came at Wichita's 81
Speedway.
Only five races remain on the World of Outlaws Series
schedule with a one-night show up next at Houston Raceway Park this
Saturday, October 23rd, as Team Hoosier looks to secure its fifth
consecutive title in the series.
