OKLAHOMA
CITY, OK (October 20) -- Tyler Walker captured his second A-feature
win of the season Sunday at State Fair Speedway in the Pennzoil World
of Outlaws Series. Including his preliminary win at Lowe's Motor
Speedway eight days earlier, it was his third overall win of the year
for the 2002 Gumout Series champion. The victory was worth $10,000 to
the California driver. Hoosier-shod drivers dominated in the 25-lap
feature capturing the top six finishing positions. Team-Hoosier
currently claims the top eight spots in the year-long driver standings
with just six nights of racing remaining on the series schedule.
Thirty-one cars posted times in qualifying with 27
drivers choosing to trust the Hoosier brand. Joey Saldana set fast
time of the night after his 15.601 second lap. Saldana's time was not
only the fastest among the 31 drivers, it also established a new track
record at the 3/8-mile clay oval. Hoosier-shod cars were responsible
for posting 14 of the 16 quickest times in qualifying.
All three heat races were won by drivers using Hoosier
tires. Randy Hannagan won the first 8-lap heat, while Ricky Logan and
Tim Shaffer captured the second and third heats.
Danny Lasoski and Tyler Walker each won their 5-lap
dash races and kept Team-Hoosier's record unblemished going into the
25-lap feature.
In the feature, Danny Lasoski took the early race lead
from the pole using a pair of Hoosier D10's. Lasoski maintained the
race lead until lap 7, when Tyler Walker took over. Walker, using a
pair of RD12's, led the remainder of the race to capture his second
feature win of the season and pocket the $10,000 payout.
Tim Shaffer, using a pair of D10's, took second
followed by Danny Lasoski in third. Brad Furr, Steve Kinser and Joey
Saldana finished fourth through sixth for the Team-Hoosier top-six
sweep.
Other drivers using Hoosier tires to finish in the top
ten were Craig Dollansky (8th), Danny Wood (9th), and Shane Stewart
(10th).
Steve Kinser remains atop the Pennzoil World of
Outlaws Series standings followed by seven more drivers using the
Hoosier brand. Danny Lasoski, Craig Dollansky, Joey Saldana, Tim
Shaffer, Mark Kinser, Brad Furr and Donny Schatz round out the
all-Hoosier top eight.
With just six races remaining on the schedule, the
series will resume action this Friday for a one-night show at Pike
County Speedway in Magnolia, MS.
