LAKEVILLE,
IN (October 21, 2005) -- Just two more nights of racing remain to close out the
28th season in the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series and when the checkered
flag waves Saturday night at Las Vegas Motor Speedway the Hoosier brand looks
to close out its most successful season ever in the famous sprint car series.
Last season, the purple tire brand amassed a stellar 88-1 record and has
matched that mark so far this season. If past performance is any indication of
future results, then a new record could very well be set.
The World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series continues to be dominated by the
Hoosier brand with nearly every participant electing to bolt on the
Indiana-based tire brand. Steve Kinser is currently in position to claim his
fourth consecutive and record 20th series title entering this weekend's finale.
Kinser is over 500 points ahead of Jason Meyers in the driver's rankings with
Craig Dollansky, Donny Schatz and Kraig Kinser rounding out the top five. All
five drivers compete on Hoosier tires.
With the crowning of the 2005 champion, the Hoosier brand will also lay
claim to its record 6th consecutive title in the series dating back to 2000
when Steve Kinser gave Hoosier Racing Tire Corp. its first-ever series
championship. From that year, the Hoosier brand grew in popularity in the
series and dirt tracks across the globe.
In 2001, Danny Lasoski gave Hoosier its second series title as the purple
tire brand compiled a 63-36 mark in the series. But that was nothing compared
to the following season when Team Hoosier went 90-6 as Steve Kinser reclaimed
the series crown.
The breakout season was followed by an 88-4 season in 2003 and last year's
stellar 88-1 record. Two more wins at Las Vegas this weekend will bring this
year's mark to an eye-popping 90-1 record for the Hoosier brand.
The one blemish does, however, mean there is still work to do. In search of
perfection, regular laboratory and track testing throughout the season
continues in an effort to keep the Hoosier the brand-of-choice by sprint
drivers around the world.
Gates open at 6:00 pm with qualifying scheduled to begin at 6:30 pm. The
Outdoor Channel will air the season finale at Las Vegas on November 2nd, at
8:00 pm (ET).
