The 28th Annual O'Reilly Winter Nationals at Devil's Bowl Speedway was the latest event in which American-made Hoosier tires dominated the racing action. Shane Stewart captured the opening night win, his second preliminary win in a row. While on Saturday night, Joey Saldana won the finale, as both drivers led every lap en route to their respective wins. Danny Lasoski also took over the series point lead by seven points as the circuit enters it's final three nights of competition.

Thirty-four cars were on hand for qualifying on the famous 1/2-mile clay oval, with 23 teams electing to ride onboard Hoosier tires. Craig Dollansky, P.J. Chesson and Joey Saldana gave Hoosier a 1-2-3 sweep of the three fastest times. Dollansky set fast time of 13.874 seconds.

In the four preliminary heat races, Team Hoosier captured two wins. Daryn Pittman won the first heat, while Shane Stewart won the second. Top finishers for Team Hoosier in the final two heats were both runner-up finishes with Johnny Herrera and Steve Kinser.

The Channellock Dash ended in yet another 1-2-3 Team Hoosier sweep when Shane Stewart, Joey Saldana and Craig Dollansky finished 1-2-3 in the 8-lap race.

In the final race of the night, Shane Stewart, using a Hoosier RD12/D12 combination, led flag-to-flag in the 25-lap preliminary feature en route to the victory. The win was worth $5,000 to the young hot-shoe.

Following Stewart to the finish line were four more Hoosier-shod drivers. Andy Hillenburg using the same rear tire combination as Stewart, battled from his fifth place start to capture second place and pocket $3,000. Craig Dollansky, using a pair of Hoosier D12's, started and ended the race in third place, and provided Team Hoosier it's 30th 1-2-3 finish of the 2001 season.

Joey Saldana finished in fourth, while Steve Kinser charged all the way from 20th to finish the night in fifth to complete the opening night Hoosier sweep of the top five. Both Saldana and Kinser were using a Hoosier RD12/D12 combination.

Other Team Hoosier drivers finishing in the top ten were Paul McMahan in seventh place and Danny Lasoski in ninth, giving Hoosier claim to seven of the top ten finishing positions.

With the top four finishers in the preliminary race on Friday night, all Team Hoosier drivers, receiving a "free-pass" into the Channellock Dash, 31 drivers remained to post times in qualifying.

P.J. Chesson set fast time of 13.934 seconds, followed by Daryn Pittman, Paul McMahan and Brad Furr for a Team Hoosier 1-2-3-4 sweep in qualifying.

All three heat races were won by drivers on the Hoosier brand, as Johnny Herrera, Danny Lasoski, and Paul McMahan each won their respective heats.

In the Channellock Dash, only one competitor of the ten entrants was not on Hoosier tires, with the race ending with Team Hoosier sweeping the top nine positions.

In the 35-lap A-feature, Joey Saldana using a Hoosier RD12/D12 combination, burst from his third place starting position to take the race lead on the first lap. From there, he led every circuit en route to the win, his first of the 2001 season, as Team Hoosier swept the top seven places, as well as, capturing nine of the top ten finishing positions.

Continuing his recent hot streak, Andy Hillenburg finished runner-up for the second consecutive time. In the past four events, Hillenburg has one win and three second place finishes. Hillenburg was using a Hoosier D12/D15 combination.

All using a Hoosier D12/D12 set-up, P.J. Chesson, Daryn Pittman and Paul McMahan, finished third through fifth respectively, as Danny Lasoski and Steve Kinser rounded out the "All-Hoosier" top seven.

Completing the list of nine Hoosier-shod drivers on the top ten list were Brad Furr in ninth and Johnny Herrera in tenth. This also marked the 31st time in 2001, Team Hoosier recorded a 1-2-3 finish in Pennzoil World of Outlaws competition.

The finish also propelled Danny Lasoski to the top of the point standings over Mark Kinser. The weekend also pushed Craig Dollansky into sole possession of fourth place in the series standings as four drivers using Hoosier tires now command the top four spots in sprint racing's elite series. Other drivers using USA-made Hoosier tires in the top ten are Andy Hillenburg in sixth and Joey Saldana in eighth place.

It would appear Danny Lasoski may have been right when he prognosticated mid-year that the championship may come down to he and Mark Kinser tied in points going into the final race of the year! The series will resume this Tuesday for a single night of racing at Oklahoma City's State Fair Speedway, before heading to the Season Finale in Las Vegas, on November 2-3.

Hoosier sprint tire product manager, Neil Cowman, who will be attending the season ending races at Las Vegas had this to say about the recent Hoosier domination, "Teams using Hoosier tires are really finishing the season strong heading into Las Vegas." Cowman quickly added, "The last time the Outlaws were there back in March, Hoosier-shod cars won all three races, two of which, ended in a 1-2-3 Team Hoosier sweep!"

The entire Hoosier organization expresses it's gratitude to all the World of Outlaws drivers, teams and fans for their loyalty and support over the course of this special season.
