LAKEVILLE,
IN -- The Hoosier brand continued its dominance in the O'Reilly World
of Outlaws Series capturing three more wins and finishing 1-2-3 in all
three races for the 75th time this season. On Friday, Donny Schatz led
all 25 laps en route to winning the opening night race at Williams
Grove Speedway in which all 24 feature starters rode on Hoosier
tires. On Saturday, Steve Kinser passed PA Posse member Lance Dewease
on lap 33 en route to his fourth Williams Grove National win.
Dewease settled for runner-up honors followed by Danny Lasoski. While
on Sunday at New Jersey's Bridgeport Speedway, it was yet another 1-2-3 finish for Team-Hoosier in sprint
racing's most recognizable series with Sammy Swindell (photo)
taking the win followed by Greg Hodnett and Steve Kinser. The Outlaws are back in action this
Friday, October 10, at Texas Motor Speedway for a two-night show.
WILLIAMS GROVE PRELIMINARY
MECHANICSBURG, PA (October 3) -- A huge 49-car field was on hand
Friday at famous Williams Grove Speedway with 45 drivers using the
Hoosier brand. The 30 fastest times in qualifying on the super-fast
1/2-mile oval were recorded by drivers outfitted with Hoosier tires.
Danny Lasoski earned fast time honors with a lap of 16.729 seconds
followed by Steve Kinser, Lance Dewease, Tyler Walker and Keith
Kauffman. The five fastest times in qualifying were recorded by
drivers using Hoosier's softest compound--the D10.
All four heat races were won by Hoosier-shod drivers.
Tim Shaffer, Steve Kinser and Daryn Pittman won the first three heats
using a D10 right rear tire, while Len Thompson won the fourth and
final heat using a Hoosier RD12.
The Dash races produced one Outlaw winner and one PA Posse
winner with seventh qualifying Donny Schatz winning first Dash and
eighth qualifying Greg Hodnett winning the final Dash. All 16 Dash
entrants rode on USA-made Hoosier tires.
In the 25-lap feature, all 24 combatants rode on Hoosier
tires with Donny Schatz taking the lead from the opening lap using a
Hoosier RD12/RD15 (LR/RR) combination. The combination was a good one
for the Parker Stores driver who led every lap of the race en route
to the $5,000 opening night win. PA Posse member Keith Kauffman
finished in second place using a pair of RD12's, while Steve Kinser
settled for third. Kinser used a pair of Hoosier D12's in the 25-lap
feature. The 1-2-3 finish was even more impressive given the fact that
all three drivers used a different Hoosier compound combination.
Lance Dewease*, Joey Saldana, Jason Sides, Paul
McMahan, Daryn Pittman, Sammy Swindell and Fred Rahmer* finished in
fourth through tenth, respectively.

WILLIAMS GROVE FINALE
MECHANICSBURG, PA (October 4) -- Forty-five cars were on hand at
Williams Grove Speedway on Saturday vying for their chance at the
$30,000 winner's payout with 40 drivers trusting the
Hoosier brand for their chance at the big money. With Friday's
top-four finishers given starting spots in the Dash race, that left
41 drivers posting times in qualifying. Danny Lasoski set fast time
for the second night in a row with a time of 16.450 seconds. Daryn
Pittman was second followed by Paul McMahan, Greg Hodnett and Tim
Shaffer. All five used a D10 compound on their right rear positions,
while the 13 fastest times in qualifying were posted by drivers using
Hoosier tires.
Three of the four heat races were won by Hoosier-shod
drivers. Kraig Kinser won the first heat, while Johnny Herrera and
Doug Esh won the second and third heats. Hoosier's D10 compound was
the right rear compound used by all three drivers.
There was one Dash race contested with all eight entrants
riding atop the Hoosier brand. The breakdown had three Posse members with eight
Outlaws drivers competing. When the 8-lap race was over, Donny
Schatz was the winner followed by Keith Kauffman*, Steve Kinser, Lance
Dewease*, Daryn Pittman, Danny Lasoski, Greg Hodnett* and Paul
McMahan.
In the feature, 22 of the 24 starters rode on Hoosier
tires. Donny Schatz led the first 11 circuits using a D12/RD15
combination before Posse member Lance Dewease took over. Dewease,
using a D12/D15 set-up, led until lap 33, when Steve Kinser made the
pass for the lead. Kinser led the remaining eight laps to capture the
win--his fourth Williams Grove National win of his career. Kinser
pocketed $30,000 for the top finish, while Lance Dewease earned a
respectable $12,000 for second place representing the PA Posse. Danny
Lasoski rounded out the top three earning $7,500. Lasoski used a
Hoosier RD12/RD15 combination and for the second night in a row, the
top three finishers used three different Hoosier compound combinations
to sweep the podium.
Hoosier-shod drivers finished first through ninth in the
40-lap feature with Donny Schatz finishing fourth followed by Mark
Kinser, Greg Hodnett*, Daryn Pittman, Doug Esh* and Tim Shaffer.
Special thanks goes out to Hoosier Engineer Jon
Huffman for providing the details for both Williams Grove reports.

BRIDGEPORT SPEEDWAY FEATURE
BRIDGEPORT, NJ (October 5) -- The World of Outlaws Series completed its
four-race-in-four-nights swing at New Jersey's Bridgeport Speedway. It
was the first time in eight years the series made a stop at the
facility. Thirty-nine cars were on hand at the 5/8-mile oval with 34
drivers using Hoosier tires and the remaining five drivers split among
the other two competing tire brands. Greg Hodnett set fast time with a
lap of 16.811 seconds followed by Donny Schatz, Jason Meyers, Tim
Shaffer and Daryn Pittman rounding out the top five in qualifying with
the
19 fastest times being recorded by drivers using Hoosier
tires.
Surprisingly, just two of the four heat races were won
by Hoosier-shod drivers. Lance Dewease won the second heat and Brian
Carlson won the third heat for Team-Hoosier.
But the purple tire brand was very much in evidence in
the two Dash races which set the first eight rows for the night's
25-lap race. All 16 entrants rode on Hoosier racing tires. Steve
Kinser took the win in the first Dash with Sammy Swindell capturing
the second Dash.
In the 25-lap feature, 22 of the 24 starters rode on
Hoosier tires while only one of the other two competing tire brands
was represented. Sammy Swindell took the lead at the drop of the green
flag using a pair of RD15's. The three-time series champion led all 25
laps en route to the $10,000 win with Greg Hodnett (D12/D12) in second
and Steve Kinser (D12/D15) finishing third. For the third consecutive
night the top three finishers all used a different Hoosier rear drive
tire compound
combination en route to their podium finish.
Not only did Team-Hoosier capture its 75th podium
sweep of the season (in 85 nights of racing), but it also swept the top
19 spots in the feature race. Rounding out the top ten were Donny
Schatz in forth, Daryn Pittman, Danny Lasoski, Tim Shaffer, Lance
Dewease, Billy Pauch and Paul McMahan.
With just eight races remaining on the 2003 World of
Outlaws schedule, Steve Kinser extended his lead in the driver
standings to an even 100 points over Danny Lasoski as the series heads
west to Texas Motor Speedway for a two-night show starting this
Friday, October 10th.
