SAN
FELIPE PUEBLO, NM (November 2-3) -- Steve Kinser is showing no signs
of easing up in his quest to record his 17th Pennzoil World of Outlaws
Series championship. Kinser won Saturday's 25-lap preliminary and then
led flag-to-flag in the 35-lap finale on Sunday. In the backdrop of
Kinser's pair of victories was also another dominating performance by
the Hoosier brand. In two nights of competition, Hoosier tires set
fast time both nights, won seven of eight heat races, won all three
dash races, and led every lap in both features to cap the
weekend of racing in New Mexico.
PRELIMINARY
SAN FELIPE PUEBLO, NM (November 2) -- A huge 48-car field posted times
in qualifying on the 3/8-mile Hollywood Hills Speedway with 40 of them
opting to run on Hoosier tires. Joey Saldana set fast time with a lap
of 104.497 mph (12.919 seconds) as the nine fastest times were
recorded by Hoosier-shod cars.
Three of the four heat races were won by drivers using
Hoosier tires. Donny Schatz won the first heat, while Sammy Swindell
and Tyler Walker won the third and fourth heats.
Donny Schatz won the first dash with Steve Kinser
capturing the win in the final dash. Both drivers use the Hoosier
brand.
In the 25-lap feature, pole-sitter Donny Schatz led
the first 13 circuits before being passed by 16-time series champion
Steve Kinser. Kinser using a Hoosier RD12/D12 (left rear/right rear)
combination led the remainder of the race to capture the $5,000 win.
Fourth starting Mark Kinser wound up second and
collected $3,000. Mark Kinser used a Hoosier RD12/RD15 set-up for the
25-lapper. Rounding out the top three was Danny Lasoski. Lasoski won

qualifying.

of 12.878 seconds. Craig Dollansky and Donny Schatz were second and
third fastest giving Team-Hoosier the three fastest times in
qualifying.

Swindell were the four heat race winners.

to the other competing tire brand's driver. Steve Kinser won the dash
and was followed by Danny Lasoski, Mark Kinser, Craig Dollansky, Brad
Furr, Tim Shaffer and Donny Schatz.

of competition left in the grueling series. Kinser won using a pair of
Hoosier D15's. Danny Lasoski took second on a D12/D15 set-up. Mark
Kinser, Craig Dollansky and Tim Shaffer finished third through fifth
using the same D12/D15 combination as runner-up Lasoski. Brad Furr
finished sixth giving Team-Hoosier the first six finishing positions
in the night's feature race.
