ALL WEEKEND WINNERS IN SPRINT RACING

4-08-2002

Brad FurrLAKEVILLE, IN -- After rain forced the cancellation of Saturday's Pennzoil World of Outlaws main event, Brad Furr was named the main event winner after capturing Friday's preliminary victory at Texas Motor Speedway in the 3rd Annual Southern Bleacher Classic. The main event win was a career first for Furr who also collected the $10,000 winner's paycheck. Team-Hoosier, once again, swept the top eight finishing positions in the 30-lap feature. The All Star Circuit of Champions resumed competition at Eldora Speedway with Blake Feese capturing his first-ever All Star feature win after starting sixth. The win extended Team-Hoosier's All Star record to a perfect 9-0. After both Williams Grove and Port Royal Speedways cancelled their weekly sprint racing due to inclement weather, only Lincoln Speedway was able to run their weekly program and would determine whether Team-Hoosier would remain undefeated in 2002 at the three Pennsylvania tracks. Fred Rahmer, after starting 12th, captured the 25-lap feature and extended Team-Hoosier's undefeated string to 11-0. It was Rahmer's 2nd win at Lincoln Speedway this year and was worth $2,500 to the veteran driver.

WORLD OF OUTLAWS
FORT WORTH, TX (April 5) -- What was to be a two-day show turned to one after Mother Nature reminded everyone that it is still Spring with rain canceling the 2nd night of competition in the Southern Bleacher Classic at Texas Motor Speedway. As a result, Friday's preliminary winner Brad Furr was named the main event winner.

Thirty-seven cars posted times in qualifying--28 of them using Hoosier tires. Hoosier-shod cars captured the top nine times in qualifying using Hoosier D10's. Joey Saldana posted fast time (13.653) followed by Mark Kinser, Steve Kinser, Tim Shaffer, Danny Lasoski, Randy Hannagan, Donny Schatz, P.J. Chesson and Daryn Pittman in second through ninth, respectively. Eighteen of the 20 fastest qualifiers rode on Hoosier tires.

Three of the four preliminary heats were won by Hoosier-shod drivers. Travis Rilat, Craig Dollansky and Brooke Tatnell were Team-Hoosier's heat race winners.

Both Dash races were won by drivers on Hoosier tires. Brad Furr and Kraig Kinser were Dash race winners while earning the right to start the 30-lap feature on the front row. Both drivers used Hoosier's D12 compound for the 5-lap race as their right rear compound selection .

The stellar qualifying and heat race results for teams using Hoosier tires resulted in a decidedly purple field in the 30-lap feature as 20 of the 24 starters used Hoosier rubber. Brad Furr led from flag-to-flag en route to collecting what turned out to be the $10,000 A-main payout. Furr used Hoosier's D20 compound for the feature as did the top seven finishers.

Kraig Kinser finished in second followed by Ricky Logan, Steve Kinser, Shane Stewart, Daryn Pittman and Mark Kinser in third through seventh, respectively. Finishing in eighth place was Donny Schatz. Schatz used Hoosier's F55 tire for the top-eight sweep for Team-Hoosier.

Craig Dollansky captured tenth place, while 15 of the top 16 finishers rode on Hoosiers.

Hoosier engineer Jon Huffman attended the event and reported the details for this article.

Weather permitting, the Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series resumes racing this Friday at Eldora Speedway for two nights of racing.
