LAKEVILLE,
IN (April 14) -- The O'Reilly World of Outlaws Series made two stops
in Missouri over the weekend and although the locations were different
the winner was not--17-time and defending series champion Steve
Kinser. On Friday, Kinser led all 25 laps at Sedalia's State Fair
Speedway and then, on Saturday led all 40 laps at I-55 Raceway in
Pevely, MO. The weekend also had Team-Hoosier once again flexing its
dirt track muscle as the weather begins to warm. The Hoosier brand dominated
both events going undefeated in every contest at both facilities. And
if that were not proof enough, Team-Hoosier captured the top-15 spots
at Sedalia and the top-14 positions at I-55 Raceway.
SEDALIA'S STATE FAIR SPEEDWAY
SEDALIA, MO (April 11) -- Thirty-two cars were entered in qualifying
with 26 drivers using the Hoosier brand. The six non-Hoosier drivers
were split among the other two competing tire brands. Kraig Kinser set
fast time of the evening with his lap of 16.155 seconds around the
semi-banked 1/2-mile track. All told, Team-Hoosier claimed the 13
fastest times in qualifying.
Jason Sides, Jeremy Campbell, Sammy Swindell and Brian
Brown were the four heat race winners. All four drive on Hoosier
tires.
Kraig Kinser and father Steve Kinser each won their
respective Dash race earning them the right to start the 25-lap
feature on the front row.
In the feature race, only two tire brands had drivers
competing--with Team-Hoosier accounting for 21 of the 24 starting
positions. Steve Kinser immediately jumped out to the race lead from
his outside pole position. The 17-time series champion went on to lead
every lap of the 25-lap race en route to the $10,000 win. Kinser used
a D12/RD15 (left rear/right rear) combination for the victory.
Finishing in second place was third starting Danny
Lasoski. Lasoski used a pair of D12's in capturing the runner-up spot.
Craig Dollansky (D12/RD15), Tyler Walker (RD12/D12), and Tim Shaffer
(RD12/D12) rounded out the top five.
All told, the first 15 drivers to cross the finish
line did so on Hoosier tires. Rounding out the Team-Hoosier top-15
were Daryn Pittman, Sammy Swindell, Joey Saldana, Shane Stewart, Donny
Schatz, Jason Sides, Brooke Tatnell, Kraig Kinser, Randy Hannagan and
Ricky Logan in sixth through 15th, respectively.
I-55 RACEWAY
PEVELY, MI (April 12) -- On Saturday, it was next onto I-55
Raceway where thirty-nine cars took turns qualifying with 29 of
them choosing to run the Hoosier brand. The remaining 10 drivers were
spilt among the two other competing tire manufacturers. For the second
consecutive night, young Kraig Kinser posted the fastest time in
qualifying. Kinser's lap of 10.672 seconds around the 3/8-mile track
was tops among the 39 combatants. Team-Hoosier once again dominated
the action claiming the 14 fastest times in qualifying.
Steve Kinser, Shane Stewart, Tim Shaffer and Jeff
Shepard each won their respective heat races on Hoosier tires.
Ironically, Jeff Shepard switched to the Hoosier brand for this event
after a disappointing 16th place finish on Friday.
Steve Kinser and Craig Dollansky were the two Dash
winners for Team-Hoosier and earned the right to start the night's
feature on the front row.
In the 40-lap feature, the purple tire brand dominated
the field. Only two of the 25 starters rode on rubber other than the
Hoosier brand. The two remaining drivers were split among the two
other brands. Steve Kinser once again led the race from start to
finish. This time, Kinser opted to use a D12/D15 combination en route
to the $10,000 win. Craig Dollansky finished in second place also
using a D12/D15 set-up. The runner-up finish was Dollansky's fourth of
the season. Ironically, all four second place finishes for Dollansky
had the Karavan Racing #7 driver following Steve Kinser to the stripe.
Danny Lasoski rounded out the top three using a Hoosier RD12/D15
combination.
Hoosier-shod drivers were Donny Schatz (4th) and Jeff
Shepard rounded out the top five. After his 16th place finish Friday
using another tire brand, Shepard charged from seventh to finish fifth
in his first race after joining Team-Hoosier. Brooke Tatnell, Shane
Stewart, Daryn Pittman, Tim Shaffer, Sammy Swindell, Joey Saldana,
Kraig Kinser, Jan Howard and Ricky Logan rounded out sixth through fourteenth,
respectively for the Hoosier brand.
The impressive performance by Team-Hoosier at the two
Missouri tracks resulted in its members laying claim to the top nine
spots in the elite series standings. With his two wins, Steve Kinser
(1829) takes over the World of Outlaws points lead over Danny Lasoski
(1825). Craig Dollansky is solidly in third place with 1775 points.
Daryn Pittman, who continues his list of strong runs, is in fourth
place with 1647 points. Mark Kinser, Shane Stewart, Jeff Shepard, Joey
Saldana and Jason Sides round out fifth through ninth in the standings
for Team-Hoosier.
The racing resumes this weekend as the series travels
to famous Eldora Speedway in Ohio for two nights of racing beginning
this Friday. Hoosier Open Wheel Dirt Product manager Neil Cowman will
travel to Rossburg, OH to monitor tire performance and answer any
questions the teams may have.
