ROSSBURG,
OH (April 13) -- The Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series was able to get
in one of two scheduled races at Eldora Speedway over the weekend
after rains washed out Friday's preliminary race. Craig Dollansky captured the 35-lap feature
after the skies cleared to pocket the
$10,000 top prize. Dollansky was followed to the finish line by Tim Shaffer
and Mark Kinser. The 1-2-3 finish was the 14th in 17 events
this season for Team-Hoosier which now lays claim to the top seven
spots in the overall series point standings. The night began with 30 cars entered
in qualifying--25 on Hoosiers. Craig Dollansky was the fastest
qualifier after setting a new track record (12.707 seconds) on the 1/2-mile track
using a pair of Hoosier D10's. All three heat
races were won by Hoosier-shod drivers. Kraig Kinser, Randy Hannagan
and Joey Saldana each captured their 8-lap heats. Tim Shaffer earned
the pole position for the feature after he won
the 1st 5-lap dash on a pair of Hoosier D10's. Donny Schatz won the 12-lap B-feature
using a pair of Hoosier D10's. In the feature, 19 of the 24 starters rode on
Hoosier tires. Tim Shaffer, using a pair of D12's, took the early race
lead at the drop of the checkered flag. Shaffer led a total of 26 laps before
giving way to Craig Dollansky who started third. Dollansky led the rest of the way to collect his first win
of the season. The 2000 Gumout Champion earned $10,000 for the win. Finishing
in second place was Tim Shaffer. Shaffer collected $5,500 for his
runner-up finish. Mark Kinser, after starting sixth, finished in third
rounding out the 14th 1-2-3 Team-Hoosier finish of the season. Just
like the race winner, Shaffer and Kinser also chose to ride on a pair of Hoosier
D12's for the 35-lap feature. All told, nine
of the first ten drivers to cross the finish line were on Hoosier
rubber. Rounding out the list of drivers in the top ten on Hoosiers
were: Steve Kinser, fifth; Paul McMahan, sixth; Shane Stewart,
seventh; Joey Saldana, eighth; Chad Kemenah, ninth; and Randy
Hannagan, tenth. Hoosier President and CEO Bob Newton joined Hoosier Open Wheel Dirt Product Manager Neil
Cowman in making the trip to Eldora to evaluate tire performance on the
famous 1/2-mile track. Cowman commented, "We continue to be very
pleased with the overall performance of the tires and look forward to
similar results in Alabama." The strong Eldora performance
also gave Team-Hoosier the right to lay claim to the top seven positions in
the Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series standings. Mark Kinser remains in
first place with 1878 points. Steve Kinser moved into second
place with 1857 points over last year's champion Danny Lasoski
