LAKEVILLE,
IN -- Team Hoosier flexed its muscle in the World of Outlaws Series in
Missouri over the weekend. On Friday, Steve Kinser won the 25-lap
feature at State Fair Speedway after race leader Craig Dollansky
collided with a lapped car. It was the first time this season that all
cars in the feature rode on Hoosier tires. On Saturday, Craig
Dollansky came back strong with a win in the 40-lap feature at I-55
Raceway. For the 2nd consecutive night, every one of the feature
starters rode atop the Hoosier brand.
STATE FAIR SPEEDWAY
SEDALIA, MO (April 16) -- Friday evening there were 29 cars on hand at
Missouri's State Fair Speedway where 28 drivers were entered in
qualifying using the Hoosier brand. The 11 fastest times in qualifying
were by drivers using the purple tire brand led by Toni Lutar with a
lap of 16.088 seconds around the 1/2-mile oval. Craig Dollansky was
second followed by Jason Johnson. Steve Kinser and Joey Saldana
rounded out the top five.
Brian Paulus, Donny Schatz and Brian Brown were the
three heat race winners. All three compete on Hoosier tires.
Team Hoosier remained perfect on the evening when
Kraig Kinser and Shane Stewart each posted wins in their respective
Dash races.
In the feature, it was an all-Hoosier finale when the
sole non-Hoosier car elected to switch to Hoosiers for the 25-lap
race. The race began with Shane Stewart jumping out to the early race
lead from the outside pole. Stewart, using a 94" D12 (LR) and a
D12 right-rear combination, held the lead until the 20th circuit. That
is when third starting Craig Dollansky moved into the race lead and
looked to be on his way to the win when disaster struck. Dollansky
collided with a lapped car ending his chances for a win and handing
the lead to Steve Kinser who had started fourth. Kinser led the
remaining three laps to capture his third consecutive win in the
series. Kinser took the $10,000 win using a 96" D12 left-rear and
a D15 right-rear combination. Shane Stewart settled for third after
leading early using a pair of D12's. Jason Meyers claimed the final
podium spot after starting ninth. Meyers made his charge into the top
three using a D12/D15 combination.
Joey Saldana and Craig Kinser rounded out the top
five, while Paul McMahan, Danny Lasoski, Tim Shaffer, Donny Schatz and
Daryn Pittman finished sixth through tenth, respectively.
Also during the evening, Winston Cup champion Tony
Stewart won the 360-sprint car race for the second consecutive year.
Stewart took the win also riding on Hoosier tires.
I-55 RACEWAY
PEVELY, MO (April 17) -- The momentum continued for Team Hoosier on
Saturday when the World of Outlaws Series were in competition at I-55
Raceway. A huge field of 45 cars jammed the pits with fully 42 of them
opting to run the Hoosier tire brand in qualifying. Tim Shaffer set
fast time of the night blistering the 1/3-mile oval in just 10.412
seconds. Shaffer was followed by Paul McMahan who circled the track in
10.451 seconds followed by Australia's Brooke Tatnell. At the completion
of qualifying, Team Hoosier had claimed the 30 fastest times.
Steve Kinser, Jason Sides, Jason Meyers and Jerrod
Hull were the four heat race winners. All four competed on Hoosier
tires.
In the two Dash races, the Hoosier brand was used by
both winners. Jason Sides won the first Dash, while Donny Schatz won
the final Dash race.
For the second consecutive night, Hoosier was the only
tire brand present in the night's 40-lap feature race when all 25
competitors rode on Hoosier tires. Craig Dollansky starting fourth and
using a 94" D12 left-rear and a Hoosier RD15 right-rear
combination motored into the lead at the drop of the green flag. From
there, Dollansky would not be denied leading all 40 laps en route to
collecting the $10,000 win. Daryn Pittman charged from 13th to finish
in second place using a 94" D12 on his left-rear position and a
D15 as his right-rear compound choice. Tim Shaffer finished third
after starting 11th.
Tyler Walker finished in fourth on Hoosiers followed
by Jason Sides in fifth. Joey Saldana, Jerrod Hull, Paul McMahan,
Brooke Tatnell and Shane Stewart rounded out the list of top ten
finishers.
Despite finishing last in Saturday night's feature
after a first-lap crash, Steve Kinser remains atop the World of
Outlaws Series standings with 1425 points followed by Danny Lasoski
with 1356 points. Paul McMahan (1331) is in third place followed by
Tim Shaffer (1327) and Daryn Pittman (1324). Currently, the top ten
drivers in the series standings compete on Hoosier tires.
The series is back in action this Thursday at
Arkansas' Batesville Speedway for a one-night show. Team Hoosier has
now won all but one feature race (15-1) in the World of Outlaws Series
this season.
