KANSAS
CITY, KS (April 24) -- For the 17th time in 20 Pennzoil World of Outlaws races,
teams riding on Hoosier tires finished 1-2-3 in the night's feature race. This
time, it was Mark Kinser capturing the 30-lap feature at Lakeside Speedway
Wednesday night. He was followed to the stripe by Steve Kinser in second and
Randy Hannagan in third. Hannagan's third place finish was his best of the
season and propelled him into the top ten (11th to 9th) in the series point
standings. Currently, the top seven Outlaw drivers use Hoosier tires.
Thirty-four cars were on hand for qualifying on the 3/8-mile dirt oval--27
on Hoosiers. Danny Lasoski, winner of the last two Outlaw races, set fast
time in the Tony Stewart owned #20. The "Dude's" time was 14.316
seconds followed closely by: Jason Johnson at 14.382; Ricky Logan at 14.396;
and Steve Kinser at 14.405 seconds.
Of the four preliminary heat races, three were won by Hoosier-shod drivers.
Tom Busch, Mark Kinser and Brad Furr each won their respective heats on Hoosier
rubber.
Both 5-lap dash races were also won by drivers on Hoosier tires. Mark Kinser
won the first dash and earned the pole position for the 30-lap feature. Steve
Kinser won the second dash and would start in the front row with cousin Mark.
In the 30-lap feature, Mark Kinser led from flag-to-flag en route to
capturing the win. Kinser used a Hoosier D15 left rear and D20 right rear
combination in securing the victory. Also using the same D15/D20 set-up was
runner-up finisher Steve Kinser and third place finisher Randy Hannagan. It was
Hannagan's best Outlaws feature finish of the season and rocketed him into the
top ten (9th) in the point standings.
Ten of the top 12 race finishers were riding on Hoosier tires. Completing
the list of top 12 finishers for team-Hoosier were: Danny Lasoski, fifth; Daryn
Pittman, seventh; Brooke Tatnell, eighth; Craig Dollansky, ninth; Tim Shaffer,
tenth; with Paul McMahan and Joey Saldana taking 11th and 12th, respectively.
Unofficially, Mark Kinser moved from third to first place in the series
point standings with 2190 points. Steve Kinser maintained his hold on second
place in the standings with 2184 points. Danny Lasoski dropped to third place
with 2180 points--just 10 points out of the lead. Craig Dollansky, Tim Shaffer,
Joey Saldana and Brad Furr complete the "all-Hoosier" top
seven.
Currently, Team-Hoosier has won 90% of the Pennzoil World of Outlaws races
heading into this Friday's two-night show at Knoxville Raceway.
