GREENWOOD,
NE (May 2-3) -- Danny Lasoski won both nights at Nebraska Raceway Park
over the weekend to run his streak to four races in a row in the
O'Reilly World of Outlaws Series. As impressive as that is, the
Hoosier brand has a streak of its own going. Team-Hoosier has now swept
the podium in the last 13 races in a row and 15 races overall this
season. On Friday night, Lasoski and Steve Kinser swapped the lead
during the 25-lap feature before Lasoski emerged the winner. While on
Saturday, Lasoski led all 30 laps en route to picking up the second
win in as many nights. The two wins were worth $17,000 to the 2001
series champion.
PRELIMINARY
GREENWOOD, NE (May 2) -- Twenty-eight cars descended upon Greenwood
Raceway Park on Friday with young Kraig Kinser capturing fast time
with his lap of 13.961 seconds around the 4/10th-mile track. Of the 28
cars in attendance, 23 of them were riding on Hoosier tires with the
remaining five drivers split among the two other competing tire
brands. The six fastest times in qualifying were collected by drivers
using the Hoosier brand.
There were three heat races with two Hoosier-shod
winners. Justin Henderson won the first heat, while Paul McMahan won
the final heat.
Both Dash races were won by members of Team-Hoosier.
Steve Kinser won the first, while Jonathan Allard won the second
Dash.
In the 25-lap preliminary feature, only two tire
manufacturers had drivers using their tires in the final race of the
night. At the drop of the green flag, Danny Lasoski burst into the
lead from his third starting position. Lasoski's lead was brief giving
way to defending series champion Steve Kinser on the second circuit.
Kinser, using a pair of D12's (the same rear compound set-up as
Lasoski), led until lap 13, when Danny Lasoski moved back into the
lead for good. Lasoski was followed to the finish line by Steve Kinser
and Joey Saldana in second and third. Lasoski collected $5,000, while
Kinser earned $3,000 and Saldana a tidy $2,500.
In fact, Team-Hoosier collected the first nine spots
in the preliminary. Mark Kinser, Donny Schatz, Craig Dollansky, Tim
Shaffer, Ricky Logan and Jonathan Allard finished fourth through
ninth, respectively, on Hoosier tires.
FINALE
GREENWOOD, NE (May 3) -- With four Hoosier-shod cars locked into
the feature via their top four finish on Friday, that left 20 cars to
battle it out in qualifying. Fourteen of 20, rode on Hoosier tires.
Despite having four drivers removed from qualifying, Team-Hoosier was
once again the dominant tire brand posting the six fastest times in
qualifying. Kraig Kinser set fast time for the second consecutive
night with a lap of 14.332 seconds.
In the three heat races contested, drivers on Hoosier
tires won all three. Jonathan Allard, Paul McMahan and Tyler Walker
were the three heat race winners.
The question of a Hoosier-shod winner in the Dash was
a moot one as all eight combatants rode atop the Hoosier brand. Danny
Lasoski won the 5-lap Dash followed by Steve Kinser, Paul McMahan,
Mark Kinser, Tyler Walker, Joey Saldana, Kraig Kinser and Brooke
Tatnell.
In the 30-lap feature, all three tire brands had
participants with 19 of the 24 starters on Hoosier tires. Danny
Lasoski started on the pole and led all 30-laps en route to his fourth
consecutive win in the series. Lasoski elected to use a Hoosier
RD12/D12 (left rear/right rear) combination for the $12,000 victory.
Finishing in second place was Steve Kinser using a pair of D12's.
Kinser pocketed $6,000. Daryn Pittman (D12/D12) settled for third
place and the $4,000 payout. With all three drivers riding on Hoosier
tires, it was the 13th consecutive 1-2-3 finish for the purple tire brand
in sprint racing's premier traveling series.
Doing one better than the previous night, Team-Hoosier
collected the top ten positions in the feature. Joey Saldana, Paul
McMahan, Brooke Tatnell, Tim Shaffer, Randy Hannagan, Jac Haudenschild
and Donny Schatz finished fourth through tenth using Hoosier
tires.
Danny Lasoski currently leads the World of Outlaws
Series standings with 2522 points followed by Steve Kinser (2453),
Craig Dollansky (2367), Daryn Pittman (2274), and Joey Saldana (2261).
With several drivers switching to the Hoosier brand recently, the top
12 drivers in the standings currently ride on Hoosier tires.
The series will resume racing this Tuesday night at
Lawrenceburg Speedway.
