CALVERT
CITY, KY (May 8) -- Paul McMahan, driving the #11h car, led
flag-to-flag in Saturday's World of Outlaws A-main race at Kentucky
Lake Motor Speedway en route to becoming the series' eighth different
winner in 13 A-main races contested to date. Amazingly, all 13 winners
have ridden on Hoosier tires, while the purple tire brand boasts a
sparkling 19-1 record in World of Outlaws sanctioned events this
season. Last season, Team Hoosier posted its best season ever in the
series compiling a stellar 88-4 mark over the course of year.
Thirty-two cars posted times in qualifying with 31 of
them riding on Hoosier tires. Jonathan Allard set fast time of the
night with a 12.289 second lap around the 3/8-mile track. Allard set
the top time using a Hoosier D10 as his right-rear tire compound
choice. Joey Saldana was second followed by Kraig Kinser, Mark Kinser
and Donny Schatz. The 22 fastest times in qualifying were posted by
drivers on Hoosier racing tires.
The Hoosier brand was also used by all four heat race
winners. Jason Meyers won the first 8-lap heat, while Steve Kinser,
Jim Moughan and Brandon Wimmer won the final three heats.
In Dash competition which set the feature race's first
eight rows, Paul McMahan won the first Dash, while Daryn Pittman
captured the win in the second Dash.
In the 35-lap feature, 24 of the 25 race starters used
Hoosier tires. When it was all over, Paul McMahan had led all 35 laps
to capture the $10,000 win. McMahan used a 94" D12/D15 (LR/RR)
combination in collecting his first World of Outlaws win of the season
and becoming the series' 8th different winner in 13 A-main races this
year.
Following McMahan to the line was Danny Lasoski who
earned $5,500 for second place. Lasoski charged from seventh place to
finish runner-up using a 94" RD15/RD15 set up. Joey Saldana took
the final podium spot using the same rear drive combination as the
race winner. Saldana pocketed $3,200 for third.
Finishing fourth through tenth, respectively, were
Kraig Kinser, Jason Meyers, Daryn Pittman, Steve Kinser, Donny Schatz,
Kelly Kinser and Tim Kaeding. The first 20 drivers to cross the line
in the night's feature race were members of Team Hoosier.
Tim Shaffer actually crossed the finish line in fourth
place but a post-race inspection found the #83 Beef Packers car under
the 1,375-lb. weight minimum. Shaffer was then scored as finishing in
25th place as a result of the infraction.
Danny Lasoski continued to whittle away at Steve
Kinser's lead in the World of Outlaws driver standings with his second
place finish. Kinser still leads with 1953 points, while Danny Lasoski
is just 27 points behind the defending series champion with 1926
points. Donny Schatz is in third place with 1874 points, followed by
Paul McMahan (1857) and Kraig Kinser (1841) in fourth and fifth,
respectively. Jason Meyers is in sixth--only one point out of fifth
place. Tim Shaffer, Daryn Pittman, Craig Dollansky and Jason Sides are
currently in seventh through tenth place, respectively, in the
standings. Not only do the top ten drivers ride on Hoosier tires, but
also the top 26 drivers in the rankings do as well.
The World of Outlaws Series is back in action Tuesday
night at K-C Raceway in Chillicothe,
OH. Last year's race was won by Daryn Pittman who could become the
series' 9th different winner this season if he were to match last
year's performance.
Our thanks go out to Hoosier World of Outlaws Track
Service Manager Dave Campbell for reporting the details used in this
