CHILLICOTHE,
OH (May 11) -- Jason Meyers is becoming somewhat of a regular in the
World of Outlaws winner's circle this season having won three of the
14 A-main races contested to date. The 25-year-old driver is second
only to Steve Kinser (8) in A-main wins this season. Meyers took the
lead from Jason Sides on lap 31 in the 40-lap feature race en route to
the win at K-C Raceway Tuesday night. Despite battling both rain and
fog, the event was completed as officials at K-C Raceway and the World
of Outlaws should be congratulated for their efforts to complete the
entire event. Meyers' win pushes the Hoosier brand's record to 20-1 on
the season in World of Outlaws sanctioned events.
Only two tire companies were on hand as 44 cars posted
times in qualifying on the 3/8-mile K-C Raceway with 40 drivers
trusting the Hoosier brand. That trust was well placed with the 21
fastest qualifiers all riding on Hoosier tires. Chad Kemenah set fast
time of the night with a lap of 11.649 seconds using a Hoosier D10
right-rear. He was followed by Steve Kinser, Jonathan Allard, Paul
McMahan and Joey Saldana.
Four heat races were contested to begin to whittle the
44 car field to 24 for the night's feature race. All four heat race
winners also rode to their respective wins atop the Hoosier brand.
Daryn Pittman, Brian Brown, Jon Agan and Danny Smith each won their
8-lap heats.
In Dash competition which set the first eight rows for
the feature, all 16 drivers rode on Hoosier tires. Donny Schatz won
the first Dash and the pole as a result, while Jason Sides won the
second Dash and would join Schatz in the front row for the night's
40-lap feature race.
In the feature, all 24 starters rode on Hoosier racing
tires. Jason Sides took the race lead from the outset and looked to be
on his way to winning his first race of the season until he was passed
by 12th starting Jason Meyers. Meyers, after qualifying 17th and
finishing 6th in the second Dash, led the remaining 10 laps to capture
his third A-main win of the season.
Mark Kinser finished in second place after starting
fifth. He was followed by Jason Sides, Donny Schatz and Kerry Madsen.
Rounding out fifth through tenth was Craig Dollansky, Dale Blaney,
Steve Kinser, Chad Kemenah and Paul McMahan.
In the winner's circle, Meyers commented, "My
guys Steve (Swenson) and Bob (Curtis) put a (Hoosier) RD15 on the car
tonight, and it worked perfectly."
Details for this report were provided by new Hoosier
World of Outlaws Track Service Manager Dave Campbell. Chad Anderson
and Scott Fernandez from Hoosier Tire Midwest (Springfield, IL) were
also on hand to assist the competing teams.
The World of Outlaws Series is back in action this
Friday (May 14) at the Terre Haute (IN) Action Track before traveling
to Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, IL for a one-night program on
Saturday.
