IN (May 13) -- Tyler Walker and Steve Kinser each won a Pennzoil World
of Outlaws $10,000 A-main over the weekend which also extended
Team-Hoosier's record to a phenomenal 23-2 since the season began. On
Friday at Missouri's State Fair Motor Speedway, Tyler Walker led a
10-car parade of Hoosier-shod drivers across the finish line in the
night's feature race. Steve Kinser then capped off the perfect weekend
for the Hoosier tire brand when he won at Tri-City Speedway in
Illinois as the first eight finishers used Hoosier tires.
STATE FAIR SPEEDWAY - Friday, May 10
SEDALIA, MO -- Thirty cars posted times in qualifying--25 of them on
Hoosier tires. Eight of the ten fastest times were posted by
Hoosier-shod drivers. Joey Saldana was fastest among the Team-Hoosier
drivers--posting a lap of 16.434 seconds around the 1/2-mile
track.
All three 8-lap heats were won by Hoosier -shod
drivers. Shane Stewart, Mark Kinser and Blake Feese each won their
respective heat races.
Both 5-lap dash races were also won by drivers using
Hoosier tires. Craig Dollansky won the first dash, while Danny Wood
captured the second dash race.
In the 25-lap feature, Craig Dollansky led the first
12 laps from the pole position before giving way to Danny Lasoski on
lap 13. Lasoski led five circuits before Tyler Walker, who started in
fourth, moved into the race lead on lap 18. Walker led the remainder
of the way to capture the win. Walker used a Hoosier D12/D15
combination en route to earning the $10,000 top prize. This was
Walker's first series feature win since May 15, 1999.
Danny Lasoski took runner-up honors and collected
$5,500. Lasoski opted to run a pair of D12's for the 25-lap race.
Craig Dollansky rounded out the list of top three finishers. Dollansky
rode on the same tire combination (D12/D15) as Walker.
Rounding out the "all-Hoosier" top ten
finish were: Shane Stewart, fourth; Paul McMahan, fifth; Brad Furr,
sixth; Donny Schatz, seventh; P.J. Chesson, eighth; Tim Shaffer,
ninth; and Joey Saldana, tenth.
TRI-CITY SPEEDWAY - Saturday, May 11
GRANITE CITY, IL -- A total of 28 cars posted times in
qualifying--23 on Hoosiers. The ten fastest times were recorded by
drivers on Hoosier tires. Danny Lasoski set fast time of the event
after clocking a lap in 16.326 seconds (110.254 mph) on the 1/2-mile
track.
Two of the three preliminary heat races were won by
drivers on Hoosier tires. Jason Sides and Shane Stewart each won their
respective heat races.
Brad Furr and Paul McMahan were winners in each of the
5-lap dash races which set the starting line-up for the night's 30-lap
feature.
In the 30-lap feature, Brad Furr took the early race
lead from the pole position on a pair of Hoosier D12's. Furr held the
lead until lap 17, when Steve Kinser, who had started third, took over
the race lead. Kinser, who was also using a pair of D12's, led the
remainder of the race to take the win and collect the $10,000 top
prize.
Joey Saldana finished in second earning $5,500.
Saldana started in fifth place en route to his runner-up finish while
on a D12/D15 set-up. Danny Lasoski, using a pair of D12's, took third
place after starting seventh.
Rounding out the top eight for Team-Hoosier were: Paul
McMahan, fourth; Brad Furr, fifth; Tyler Walker, sixth; Craig
Dollansky, seventh; and Tim Shaffer, eighth.
Daryn Pittman finished tenth as Team-Hoosier captured
nine of the race's top ten finishing positions.
Danny Lasoski currently leads the Pennzoil World of
Outlaws Series with 2799 points followed by seven more Hoosier-shod
drivers. Steve Kinser (2779), Mark Kinser (2732), Craig Dollansky
(2673), Tim Shaffer (2640), Joey Saldana (2615), Brad Furr (2592), and
Donny Schatz (2569) round out second through eighth place in sprint
racing's premier series.
Weather permitting, the series resumes racing on
Tuesday at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, PA where Team-Hoosier was undefeated
in Outlaw competition last season.
