BECHTELSVILLE,
PA (May 18) -- Steve Kinser led every lap of the 35-lap feature at
Grandview Speedway Sunday night stretching Team-Hoosier's consecutive
podium sweep streak to 17 in the O'Reilly World of Outlaws Series. It
was to have been four consecutive nights of racing against the members
of the renowned Pennsylvania Posse, but rain cancelled both Thursday
and Friday's races at Williams Grove Speedway and caused Saturday's
Hagerstown race to be rescheduled for Monday night. The skies finally
cleared enough to allow the competitors a chance to race on Sunday at
Grandview Speedway. Sixteen proved to be the lucky number of the night
as the Hoosier brand not only captured the top 16 times in qualifying,
it also was the brand used by the first 16 drivers to cross the finish
line in the night's feature race.
Thirty-five cars posted times in qualifying with 27
drivers riding atop Hoosier tires. The other eight drivers were split
evenly among the other two competing tire brands. Tim Shaffer set fast
time of the night with his lap of 12.631 seconds around the 1/3-mile
clay oval. All told, the 16 fastest times in qualifying were recorded
by drivers using Hoosier tires. Steve Kinser, Jason Sides, Chad
Layton, Billy Pauch, Danny Lasoski, Kasey Kahne, Sean Michael, Greg
Hodnett and Daryn Pittman rounded out the top ten in qualifying.
Three of the four preliminary heat races were won by
Hoosier-shod drivers. Sammy Swindell, Mark Kinser and Fred Rahmer each
won their respective heats riding on Hoosier tires.
Both 5-lap Dash races were also won by drivers using
the Hoosier brand. Tim Shaffer won the first Dash, while Steve Kinser
captured the final Dash race of the night.
In the 35-lap feature, 20 of the 24 starters rode on
Hoosier tires. Steve Kinser, using a Hoosier RD12/D12 (LR/RR) compound
combination, jumped into the race lead at the drop of the green flag
from his outside pole starting position over pole-sitter Tim Shaffer.
The 17-time series champion then led every lap of the race en route to
collecting the $10,000 win. Finishing in second place was Danny
Lasoski (D10/RD12) followed by Tim Shaffer (D10/RD12), Tyler Walker
(RD12/D12) and Fred Rahmer (RD12/D12) to round out the top five.
All told, Team-Hoosier secured the top 16 spots in the
night's feature race. Rounding out the top 16 positions were Daryn
Pittman in sixth followed by Joey Saldana, Billy Pauch, Paul McMahan,
Mark Kinser, Donny Schatz, Sean Michael, Kasey Kahne, Sammy Swindell,
Jason Hagenbuch and Chad Layton.
Sadly, Craig Dollansky was not in attendance at the
event. The driver of the Karavan Racing #7 was injured making his
debut in the Infinity Pro Series race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway
on Saturday. Dollansky suffered a compression fracture to his vertebrae
in his lower back. We at Hoosier Racing Tire Corp offer our prayers
for a speedy and full recovery to Craig and also give our support to
Craig's family and teammates during this difficult time. For future
updates visit www.dollanskyracing.com.
The World of Outlaws Series will be back in action
tonight for the re-scheduled race at Hagerstown Speedway.
